I made a blank effect-target ability so I can change the targeted unit properties with triggers since what I want cannot be done in data. How do I detect what unit has been targeted and do the necessary actions?
Are you sure it can't be done in data by say giving the targeted unit a buff? You could even use a dummy buff if you want to be able to use triggers as well. Just use the "Unit behavior changes" event.
you cannot detect if a unit is targeted but not casted yet (except with mouse tracking which only works singleplayer well). please tell us first what exactly you want to do and let us judge if it cannot be done in data.
