I don't know if it represent really serenity, but your creation is really interesting. I like that. I like the homemade bridges, the stairs, the fog just over the water...
I think I would have made a better bridge entrance, I mean, look at the bridge near us, it got an arch, look at the others, they don't. I would try also to change the moutain in the middle into something like a Nexus or a Protoss building, so, the stairs would be around a Protoss building. It would creates a kind of huge building. I would have tryed also to make it looks like a huge "X", since it is near that, but not exacly.
The rocks that are just different terrain heigh, are well made and are realistic in the water. The terrain all around, the plants and the textures used are great. The path on the left, the rocks on the bottom... There is just a weird reflection on the left where it reflect the sky when it is supposed to be water or at less darker.
In overall, it has something realistic, possible. Though, you have the same problem as me, the background mountains are... not realistic really, we feel it, that it hide something more than beeing there to take part of the terrain... GJ
Yeah I definitely agree the mountains needed some work, this time I tried to spiffy it up a little bit—making them look a little bit more incorporated into the story like you suggested (adding the background waterfall & pool, a new blue skybox, and adding the walk-way at the right) as well as trying to redo the peaks.
The middle was also quickly done, so instead of making it look particularly protoss-esque I decided to make it more of a thick spire with a colored brazier at the top. Hopefully the bridge entrance also looks a bit more ambitious, I tried to give it a more "structured" feel than the bland one I had before and redid the water so it has a little less funk.
Thanks a lot for the reply, it was really helpful—hopefully you like this version better!
(And sorry if it's hard to tell what's going on in some parts, I tried to rotate it to the most attractive angle!)
the 2nd and 4th screenshots (without the crystals) express "calm" better than the others imo. Spiky crystals convey a certain 'rage' or 'chaos' atmosphere , at least to me lol.

Why don't you give us some more close-up screenshots? I'm curious, there seems to be a lot of detail ni there you simpl can't see a this distance.
Alright, here's a couple closer ones:

Whats the name of the feeling where you're the only one who is just sitting there and not being attacked while a war rages around you?
