I have been working with the new leaping zergling (raptor) and I am looking for a way to make his leap deal damage to the unit targeted, here are my possibilities. First, just make it deal damage or second giving a buff to the zergling for his next attack within 1 second (the first way is better so if you know how to do both, please focus on this one). I have no idea how any of these would be made... please help me by telling me which things to change and how.
For the first way, that would probably be much, much easier. All you have to do is make two new effects. One will be a set type. Then go to the raptor's launch missile effect (its called raptor leap LM). Set its finish effect to be the set you just made. Now with the other effect, make it a damage effect and set the damage to whatever you want. Then go back to the set effect you made earlier and add BOTH the raptor leap remove effect that you took out of the finish effect earlier which was replaced with the set effect, and also add the damage effect you just made. Done!
Or... if you don't care how nice it looks, you could just make a damage effect and add it to the raptor leap set that already exists. But this will damage the unit before the raptor jumps so, your choice.
I stopped on this ability but now i really need it, is there something fishy missed in his explanation or am I just too dumb to follow it ??
Thanks in advance
Note: i think there might be something with it not finding a target but i don't know how to set the target to be the enemy, after some poking around all i got it to do is kill my ling.
No, Fishy is correct but his explanation could be clearer. The raptor leap abilities simply turns the unit into a missile and launches it. You'll need to change the final effect to a set which includes the new damage effect as well as the previous remove buff effect used before in the original ability's final effect.
I got that but still no positive results, are you sure there isn't another value I have to change somewhere because right now ll i did is make the set with the final effect and add damage. I don't know what I got wrong else.
Here is what i was missing, the area field on the damage effect which is included in the raptor charge damage effect and I never knew was needed because I'm a data noob. Anyways, thanks so much and also thanks to others who helped.
Another question on the same subject. I am trying to get the leap to deal extra damage if the zergling leaps down a height. Using data would be my first choice a the thing i can't do but if you guys say its not possible ill use triggers.
Be sure to check out the extension mod: Hots Custom Map support on NA and EU, Despite the name it greatly expands the roster of options for the default 3 races and is updated all the way to NCO.
Have a Set effect with two damage effects. The second Damage effect is validated with a Location Compare Cliff Level validator that compares the origin point of the missile launch to the target.

It doesn't seem to work for me, do you have an example map that I could see to look what you did differant

???
Maybe this will help, a step by step guide...
1) Create a new effect, type = set
2) Set Effects+ to Raptor Leap Remove and Raptor Charge Damage
3) Set the damage in the Raptor Charge Damage effect
4) Go to Raptor Leap LM and change Finish Effect to the set you created earlier
It worked perfectly over on my end.
Thank You SOOOOOOOOOOO much.

You'll probably need a combination of validators and a switch effect. Much easier in triggers.
there is an unused campaign upgrade that does this I think, barbed talons
