Starcraft 2: Odyssey Campaign
Warning: Blizzard's patches are known to create bugs and/or glitches at times. Feel free to report issues you may encounter.
Introduction
Odyssey is my first attempt at creating a Starcraft 2 project consisting of a multi-act campaign set in the Kardyan Quadrant... far away from the Koprulu Sector. Played from the Terran point of view of Captain Jared Harsh of the Marine Ground Forces: Hell's Rejects, Act I focuses on his struggles throughout the battle-scorned planet Duros III.
Featuring high-quality terraining with some decent writing accompanying, Odyssey hopes to push forward the storytelling capabilities of a custom campaign with its long-length cutscenes and additional lore to the Starcraft universe. As storytelling alone won't make a videogame, the gameplay, despite not being the true focus, can still present fresh mechanics and unique situations.
Even though the events planned to unfold in the Kardyan Quadrant are very long and complex, Act I is set for only 14 missions. As for Act II and beyond, time will tell.
How to Install and Play
- Locate the Maps folder inside your Starcraft II installation directory and create within it a folder named Odyssey.
- Place all the missions and launcher files inside it.
- Initiate the Starcraft II editor and then load the launcher file.
- On the editor go to File > Test Document.
- Follow the launcher's instructions and enjoy.
History of the Kardyan Quadrant
Departing from Earth, thousands of Terrans constituted the Second Exodus about ten years after the Exile of the “dissidents” who would come to crash-land on the Koprulu Sector. The members of the Second Exodus eventually arrived at the Kardyan Quadrant where they started expanding and thriving. Colonizing the Earth-like planet of Parsya and declaring it the Capital World, the quadrant became theirs. Over the decades, backwater planets and moons became increasingly aggravated with the burdening taxations employed by the Commerce Guilds of Parsya. Unable to sustain those taxations, the colonists abandoned the Parsyan Collective and settled on remote and poor systems where Parsya had no interests. There, they took the name, Exodian Clans.
The Parsyan government, shaken by the sudden loss of manpower on the outlying planets, deployed a massive funding into the Research Divisions. Such, allowed for the creation of a new artificial intelligence capable of self-learning, far more advanced than the average Adjutant. Built into manlike androids, later called Synthetics, the outlying planets were populated with them to serve as Parsya’s workforce. As their artificial minds were evolved upon with the passing generations, eventually, the Series 3 began showing signs of free-will, being capable of choosing to ignore orders given by humans. The Parsyan Collective, afraid of a possible synthetic rebellion, amassed all its military power under control of seven of the highest-ranking Admirals and Generals, unofficially named, the Steel Council. The amassed power of the Parsyan military became known as the Federation of Warfare, a force to be reckoned with. To their surprise, the Synthetics did not wish ill upon humanity and instead chose to leave Parsyan controlled space much like the Exodian Clans had done decades before. They were never heard from again. Fearing that they would one day change their minds or the possibility of an invasion by the Exodian Clans, Parsya kept expanding the Federation of Warfare and forbade the research into artificial intelligence, and even, the use of Adjutants.
As the decades went by, Parsya outgrew itself in power and economy but also in greed. The unforgivable event later named the Powering Strife led the Federation of Warfare into detaching itself from Parsya and declaring independence under command of Admiral Cassius Rourke who took the mantle of Grand Marshal. Head of the Steel Council and supreme commander of the Federation. The Parsyan Collective, aware of the threat the Federation posed, began sinking its economy into buying the loyalty of some of the Federation’s divisions and commanders and even hiring mercenary armies from the Exodian Clans. The two forces clashed and the Powering Wars lasted for five years, ending with the troubled invasion but inevitable fall of Parsya. At the Post-War Peace Treaty of 2490, it was determined that the surviving Parsyans would be restricted to their crumbled planet in agreement that the Federation could never again set foot there. As the Federation of Warfare became the unchallenged power in the Kardyan Quadrant, ten years of peace flourished.
On the 23rd of March 2500, the miners of the Planet Duros III began a rebellion against the Federation of Warfare for the deplorable conditions they were set to work on. Now, less than forty-eight hours later, the peacekeeping Battlecruisers Heimdall and Pegasus arrive at the planet with orders to restore control.

Special Thanks
To my friend Hélio for creating the Odyssey logo and tempering with the hero icons and to Marco and Vanda for putting up with me when I wouldn't shut up about the story. Also, thanks to JayborinoPlays and DeltronLive for showcasing Odyssey on their youtube channels and to everyone who enjoys this and thinks I'm bothering myself with something cool.
Hi,CooperHawkesOdyssey!
I am an sc2 player from China, and I am very glad to play Odyssey Campaign which is made by you.
The first time I played Odyssey Campaign, I was deeply moved. The story, the history, the background, the settings, the details, the brutal play........in fact, the all of this campaign is very very very magnificent!!!
It must take you lots of time and mind working on it,and here I want to say thank you very much for making so fantastic campaign for us who love sc2. Actually,I think this campaign is beyond Blizzard standard!
And at last, I hope we will have the chance to play Odyssery Act 2.Though it may take you lots of time, we will support you all the time!
I am already one your fans! lol
Best wishes from China!!!
No man, I am your fan! Thanks.
I don't know what to say other than "Wow." The attention to detail and craftsmanship that went into this level is staggering; it is, without a doubt, above Blizzard standards. The tactical and strategic considerations, the Destroy the Dropships Minigames, all the work put in.
I can only hope Act II will be coming to Mapster. I look forward to continuing the story and following where these characters go. Thanks, CooperHawks! :D
You're welcome, mate.
Wow, what a beautiful way to conclude this campaign, this journey... (that i started on battlenet many years ago), your cutscenes / story telling are amazing and the challenge is alwais high, making this the hardest campaign on the sc2 cutsom campaign scene (never had my ass kicked so hard on brutal...).
*Map 14 was amazing, only complaint is that the timer version felt a bit trial and error, i did all bonuses and destroyed the generators with less of 10 seconds left... The final boss was great, it was way harder if compared to the one Jayborino faced... Had to qucksave a lot...
* Looking forward for part 2, who knows if the zerg wil have more impact on the story, or if we'll even see the protoss
It's really funny that I've known your username since 2013 because you were the very first person to review this on the arcade. Even funnier is that you reviewed it less than 30 minutes after I uploaded which makes you very close to the first person ever to have played Odyssey.
You played mission 14 on brutal right? Reckon I can increase the timer.
Zerg having a bigger impact in the story and Protoss showing up? Who knows, maybe you'll get both!
Thanks!

Well, congrats on finishing Act I!
I had been watching and following this campaign for years now and to see it finish was absolutely amazing. Obviously the best parts were the story/lore because of how it was presented as well as the mystery and suspense that came along with the cutscenes in every single mission. Being a huge fan of lore and story, I have to say I enjoyed Odyssey the most of all the custom campaigns I have tried.
For that reason, I hope Act II and beyond will come to reality, this is simply too good of a story not to get a continuation. I understand the whole issue of not having enough free time (especially when it you solo such a grand project), but I really hope something can be done.
And watching the last scenes in Mission 14... man, I really hope something/someone saved Tyraen, missed that guy since the early parts of the campaign!

I've never downloaded something so fast before! Whoo!!
In reply to VisionsofKhas:
Yeah, I beat both of you! Thanks.

Hey man (Again :P), Do you have any idea how your friend (Hélio) made the Odyssey logo, I've looked everywhere for a generator that has the iconic Starcraft 2 feel to the text, but I've come to the conclusion that there isn't one, and I've considered making one in blender, but I'm not the greatest at the program, so having an idea of how he made it would be appreciated.
If you have no idea, that's fine too, Thanks!

Hey Man, I was wondering in Mission 14, How did you get the Marines to have the Combat Shields without researching the upgrade, as I can't download the map and check myself yet, knowing which tab to check to go and apply the passive Combat Shields to marines would be nice, as I have tried searching in Abilities and upgrades under Shield Wall, Combat Shield among others, to no success, I also have a question about how you got the camera to pan that way, when I tried to get the camera to pan into the different positions, but it stayed locked into one position, I have yet to find a fix for that, any insight would be welcome, lastly, I think I have figured out the dialogue and cutscene dialogue triggers thanks to your tips, but it doesn't seem to say it at all despite me thinking I did it correctly, If you could maybe shed some light on what my issue it, I will also go and check out Mission 13's triggers and look at how to did your cameras, but seeing it in words would be appreciated as the editor is confusing and "I haven't the foggiest" (Sam - Mission 14, about the "Magic Panel") about Cameras and Regions, I have only recently learned how to use basic points, like spawning a unit at a point and move it towards another point.
Thanks! -V
P.S. If you are willing, I would also like to pass ideas by you about custom units I've designed for my custom campaign, Right now all I have are Custom Terran units to replace the standard Terran units, I want to go in and replace the Zerg with Custom Stuff, but right now all I have plot wise is TvT, any recommendations for the units I have would be GREATLY appreciated, as I want to keep it as balanced as possible.
Also, I would like to make a Cameo/Reference to Odyssey, The Kardyan Quadrant & all that stuff if that would be okay with you.
To get the upgrade is simple. Just put in the triggers the Add Upgrade Level to Player. Should be something like "Add 1 to Marine - Combat Shield upgrade for player 1" once filled. If the marines change to 55 health and have the shield animation, you're done.
First you need to create the cameras in the camera module. It's the button between the regions and pathing one. In the triggers use Apply Camera Object and set the seconds to 0. That will make the camera shift instantly to it. Use the same action with a different camera and set the seconds to whatever you want. It will make the camera move from one to another over the duration you chose, thus panning.
if you're doing the transmission action well and it doesn't show, then the seconds are probably 0. If you're not actually using sound files in the transmissions, just check how long it takes you to say the dialog and set the duration to it.
As for custom units, I'd say to try and find your own way. If it's your creation, then it's got your stamp on it. Only thing I can say is to try and make it cool. Not misplaced in the Starcraft Universe or overpowered, just a unit you'd like to use more than once in your gameplay.
You can reference Odyssey as much as you want. It's an honor.
Thank you for solving my Combat Shield problem, I could never figure that out, and thank you for helping me solve my problems with the cameras and transmissions!
I also have an idea for my reference to Odyssey: My new Terran faction, called "Foundry", in its backstory raided one of the top secret Federation facilities and copied the Cerberus's schematics, but I have this reference ENTIRELY separate of your plot in Act I, not even the UEC knew it happened, and hopefully this doesn't mess with Act II in any way when its made.
This is my favorite Starcraft II custom campaign, it is so realistic and professional. I'm so excited for the next act!
