With the death of the overmind and the events that took place during the Wings of Liberty campaign, it left billions of zerg broods and swarms in a state of free chaos. All zerg creatures are able to act completely on their own will. Some, gave in to their hunger to dominate and kill anything. Others, banded together to create new broods. With the absence of the overmind and the Queen of Blades, infested marine's were finally able to live a life how they saw fit, despite their decrepit appearances.

Beleive it or not, the Infested Marine still felt more human than zerg. It only considered itself an ally to the powers of the swarm, not a slave. And as for the spirit of the human, making best with what you have, is the motto for the Infested Marine. It has a history of giving zerg broods trouble and resistance, hence why they aren't used as much in combat. Some Infested Marines have become heroes among enslaved zerg creatures. Freeing millions of zerg forces from the psionic tied from both the overmind and the queen of blades. It was once said that an Infested Marine free from the ties of the swarm could rival the powers of the Queen of Blades herself.

The Infested Marine

Having all of the strengths of the swarm and the added benefits of a small loyal brood, the Infested Marine is a capable oponent in battle. With Chaos tearing both his brood and human bretheren apart the Infested Marine felt drawn to stopping Chaos at all costs. Being equipped with the power of the swarm and the history of Psionic powers that linked it to the overmind and the Queen of Blades, the Infested Marine is able to call upon minions of his brood, apply some devastating status effects on enemies and pack a nice little punch.

The core focus and center of the Infested Marine's powers come from it's ability to summon minions of his brood to do it's bidding. The Infested Marine also has several Psionic abilities that help reinforce his minions, defend itself and dish out damage to its enemies.

Summoning

  • Summon Zergling: The strength of every brood depends on its grunts. The zerglings do little damage but are stronger in a pack. 10 Max
  • Summon Roach: The ranged equvelent of the zergling. Roaches can take and dish out a bit more damage. 10 max
  • Summon Ultralisk: The backbone of the Infested Marines swarm. The Ultralisk specializes in absorbing damage for its bretheren while bestowing benefits to its master. 1 Max
  • Summon Lurker: The hidden ally, dealing persistant AOE damage and buffing its master.
  • Call Swarm: While not being able to control the power of the mutalisk fully, the Infested Marine does have allies that occationally aid him in battle. Calls forth 10s of mutalisks to attack enemies for several seconds.
  • Creep Aura: Spawns creep in range of the Infested Marine. The creep adds damage,speed and health regenerating benefits to all allies that step upon it.
  • Infest: Infests target enemy, forcing it to become your allie until it dies. 10 max
  • Consume: Devour a random minions and return its remains as health to you.

Swarm Powers:

  • Ensnare: Slows targets in area by %. Slow amount and area increase with level
  • Fungal Growth: Root targets in area and small dot. Damage and area increase with level
  • Thick Hide: Passive armor buff for player and minions. Negates physical damage only.
  • Tunneler: Teleport. Range, cost and cd reduced each level.
  • Burrow: Burrows Infested Marine hiding him. Health regen over time while burrowed.
  • Metabolic Regeneration: Health and Mana regens faster each level while out of combat
  • Hydrenal Glands: Faster movement speed, passive. Speed increased per level
  • Corruption: Target enemy is sapped of attributes and is tranfered to player. Target enemy takes damage over time and becomes an ally unable to fight.

Psionic Powers

  • Psionic Pulse: An AOE aura that damages units in range over time each pulse does a set amount of damage. Each level will increase damage mount and max number of targets.
  • Corpse Explosion:Targets a corpse and causes it to voilently explode causing AOE damage. Each level increases damage and range of the AOE.
  • Infested Gauze Rifle: Basic weapon for the Infested Marine. Increasing level increases damage of the weapon. Starts with 1 point in this skill
  • Broodling Missle:Shoots a broodling at a target. Deals impact damage. Increasing level will reduce cooldown and increase damage.
  • Acid Cloud: AOE that reduces enemy units armor and slows their movement and attack rate.
  • Swarm Mist: AOE that blinds targets. Cuts their range of attack into a third. Great against ranged units.
  • Revive:Reanimates the coprse's of the dead and forces them to aid the Infested Marine.
  • Worm Prison: Summons a nydus worm that traps the target inside until the worm is killed.
