Daleeron you need to take a look around before just posting about what you're looking for. I know for a fact that there are multiple tutorials on each subject that you requested help with on this site.
This is the only way to make a map appear larger that WORKS, people did find a way to make maps larger then the normal sizes allowed, I don't remember exactly how they did it but it required changing game files and would only work if online play if both people had the altered files.
Well plain and simple you didn't alter the correct layer in the footprint. You would be better off editing the ramp instead of the footprint for buildings to be honest though, otherwise the buildings with altered footprints will be able to be built on cliffs, doodads, ramps, and on top of other buildings.
Like the above post states, you use custom footprints but alows you to build on cliffs and on other buildings as well. I actually experimented with this in the beta and made a video.

I would say take a look at the door doodads footprint and how it changes when its open and closed

Its not, just has alot of fog is all, came out a little darker then I wanted.
