And after three weeks of joint-exercising, I figured I'd go back to the normal WTE's. WTE #23 is still up and its terrain needs some finalizing, but here's something new for all of you.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #24
This WTE is all about "The great indoors". What this means is that I want you to make a terrain that is indoors, and not outdoors. Whether this is a cave, an improvised building, a facility or something else is up to you.
Here it is! My Zerg indoors. There is alot of things we don't always see at the first look, but there is falling rocks, the hot effect for the lava, smoke, the flying orange things, etc. There is something like 3-4 hours of work, I'm not sure though. I don't count them. I don't like to put only one picture of a great work, so here is, as I always do, a short clip of it. Notice there is still some work to do with the fluidity of the camera and some collisions, but mostly correct.
What do you think of it? :P
(Thanx to Mozared for the explication how to put the video here)
I like that Brood. It's chaotic and lacks focal points, but overall it's alright. Also like that you put it in video form instead of screenshots - now Sixen might finally be willing to news a WTE properly =P.
As for the videos; it depends on what markup you're in, but if you're using bbcode then I think you use the [ signs, put "youtube" in between them, and copy in the video's identifier (If the link says , the identifier would be XXXXXJXJXJXX). Lets test that;
[youtube][/youtube]
Edit: No, actually. I don't know how to do it in BBcode, but for Wikicreole you place two < marks, followed by the word 'youtube', followed by the identifier, followed by two > marks. Like so;
Well I am using dark blue lighting and metal walls on braxis alpha. So far it just looks like an open base layout. Idk how to make it look like it's inside...
I'll refer to my 'The Turning' map again. Put indoor items in there and confine the camera/get top-down angles. It looks outdoor because you've created a building without a ceiling and you're showing off the entire building.
Well I decided to try this instead. It's getting late, so this is all I can show for it at the moment. Picture it in third person, what dragon themed video game series does it remind you of?
Well, here is my first time posting on this board. I wish I had done so early, as I published a map, Cortex Roleplay - Crete, which was, well, entirely greek themed! To bad I didn't do so during the Hellos thread, as it was a really cool one. Oh well, the images are in this album, taken from a map I am working on, Cortex Roleplay - Derelict. The theme is a partially destroyed/abandoned vessel, I hope you all like. Any feedback you post really helps!
There is many ways to make it looks like an indoors. You know, you can modify the setting of a doodate to make it be 500% by 500% (max) by 10% (min) of height. It will become a kind of platform that you could use as a ceiling, like I did in my video with the Arches. The only problem, is to find a doodate that have a face under it, to don't see throught an invisible face.
Here is one example. I used "Xel'Naga Halo" to creat the ceiling. To make it looks more close, like a bubble, I added the "Zhakul'Das Bridge". There is no face under, but the light effect still appear, so I kept it. I've tested with a units, it's a brige so units walk over, but this is something editable in the Data.

OO this should be fun, and that image looks awesome Calgore. If it were bigger Id use it for my wallpaper
I'm doing a Zerg one, but I must go, I will finish it later today.
Working on projects:
I got school and I've been tired this week, but if I did one, it would be a helicopter hanger or something.

WOW...really nice...,,

And this too.:P
How do you make ceilings?
Creative use of doodads, mostly. Though you don't always need to make a ceiling to make an indoor terrain - see my map 'The Turning'.

too bad you can only report a post for abuse and not awesomeness...
+1 for awesomeness
@Scbroodsc2: Go
you see, I'm not skilled like that :( What I want to make is a banshee hangar or an underground temple of some kind. I'm not amazing like you are :(
