I have made a custom building using a bunch of different doodads. I have grouped the selection. How can I save the selection as a unit itself so I can set it as a structure?
I combined a bunch of doodads to make a really neat structure. I grouped the selection containing 5 doodads. Is there an easy way to make this new structure an actual unit structure?
i tried using his method and i set the duration to .50 and I set the top color to the color of the flash and the bottom color to the original tint i had at the unit's birth. I tried one shot, bounce, and cycle and they all continued to flash. So since I was probably doing it wrong I just tried your way. Not saying anyone was more or less correct. Nor am I saying I am ungrateful for his help :P
Edit: but I am really enjoying the trigger method so far. I can make different colors for ranged, melee and so forth. I already set it up so when my dark templar gets hit by a melee it flashes red for .10 seconds and a light yellow if he is hit with ranged. super sexay!
I know how to set the unit tint by going into the actor and clicking on events. Setting it so the unit birth sets the tint. How do I set it up so that when it takes damage it bounces between it's original tint color and the new color?
sigh* I looked at the page and they mostly talk about how to export and upload things. Not really how to use any of the custom content. Maybe all of this is over my head :\
I searched on here how to do it and came up with nothing. There are those who have done some really impressive work and I want to utilize what sc2mapster has to offer but I have no idea how to import custom scripts, models, etc. Anyone?
too true friend. I messed up my zergling's weapon once. I deleted all modified crap and tried to get it back and it still says roach - claws. Fun times.
this is correct but if he wants more than one marine-type unit in a custom game this can be an issue (aside altering jim raynor and such) so it is probably best that he learn how to get it to work now. Like in art, some artists draw character hands in pants pockets to avoid learning how to draw hands. Gotta learn eventually :)
Well I haven't actually done any data editing or triggers. It took me 3 hours to do the drawing itself. I am still trying to decide what to do with it. I am very happy you guys like it though. Thanks a lot :D

nevermind. I took voodude20's advise and got it to work. Thanks guys
Made the behavior buff and set it to like .50 duration.
Trigger Name: unit melee damage flash
Events: Unit - Any Unit takes Non-Fatal Melee damage (from Any effects)
Local Variables:
Conditions:
Actions: Unit - Add 1 Damage Flash to (Triggering unit) from (Damaging unit)
Created Actor like you said and it worked. You guys are amazing :D
