posted a message on [Release] Aerials: (Lagless 3rd person air shooter)

Hey guys. So I'm officially releasing the map I submitted to the Blizzard map competition. This was my first map created in the Galaxy editor so it's not as refined as I would like it to be, but it's still playable and entertaining.

The map is actually a fetal engine for a much larger project me and a few friends are working on that will be PVP oriented with 360 degree control of your ship. I'm really excited about bringing that one to everyone because I believe it will cator to all audiences unlike some of the final fantasy RPG type maps ive developed. But enough about that map.. back to this one.

Basically Aerials is a four player 3rd person shooter where you get to control 3 different vehicles in your mission to destroy a big ass zerg mother. You get to control a Loki Battlecruiser, Merc Goliaths, and Merc Vikings. The targetting system may be different from what you're used to. It's a simple point and click system that will fire at whatever you shoot at. I felt this was a good compromise since most of the 3rd person shooters generate too much network traffic and cause lag. This method will cause zero lag and has zero delay. It's not exactly Starfox... like I said I'm still working on the system, but this game is a suitable immitation until more progress is made in the community with the editor.

Anyways.. have fun and hope you play it. :)

posted a message on Seeking Testers for "POWER OVERWHELMING"

The map is already way ahead of schedule, and I will begin balance testing in a closed beta on the 18th. If you are interested in becoming a tester for this map, please apply here. Your name will be featured on the map's loading screen, but the work won't exactly be easy. You will need to play many many many battles of the game and take notes on issues you believe need more balance. A bonus for this position is a decent understanding of mathematics in balance. This map features over 100 skills, 50 different character levels, and 50 different boss fights, so it will be a challenging thing to balance out. I expect highly motivated note takers. :)

You can view the thread for more details about the map here: http://forums.sc2mapster.com/resources/project-workplace/12671-introduction-power-overwhelming-galactic-gladiators/

Thanks for your time and support SC2Mapster.

    Creation

Edit: A perk for testing if you will be one of the few people who will see every skill in the game since attaining level 50 will be no easy task.

Malu. If you're willing to comprimise and have a custom user interface developed over the standard UI using screen images, I can teach you how to make this map playable over battle.net. I'm assuming that right now bnet is unable to handle it due to the latency issues caused by WASD and left mouse clicks correct? If this is the only obstacle, please PM me. I have a method to overcome these issues that I was going to implement on a starfox type map, but Power Overwhelming got in the way.

UI is my bread and butter.

Huge fan of what you're trying to do here. This was actually going to be my next project but it looks like you've got things under control. I personally would like to see this built for pvp action since it has the best replay value IMO. Not to mention competition gets people hooked and with 9,999 levels, things could get crazy. If you do have it pvp, make sure you build in a detector so if 1 player is 3x stronger than everyone else on the map and there's 4 players, they are all allied against the strong guy.

My only suggestion would be to ditch the grid visibility on the map itself, tactics style.

    PS Shining Force ftw

We're open to suggestions here since you guys are the fans who will be playing. I want the community to shape the outcome of this map. Although I wont be able to induct all the elements of Chrono trigger, I did manage to get the cross combo system working today, so combined attacks WILL be featured in this map. Combined attacks will be executed off of Final Fantasy 7's limit break system.

With 50 bosses you can expect to see a lot of unique things come from this map. I talked to Vulfe today and he will be joining the team in making boss fights. Every fight will have some type of boss unit in it, and sometimes the boss(es) will be accompanied by weak cronies. Sometimes you will face multiple bosses at the same time. There will even be a level where you have to fight yourself. The battles will be wide ranging and challenging.

I wouldn't worry too much about having a bad comp. It runs very smoothly, but just in case I will add a clipping feature to the game that will eliminate the outer space if necessary to improve game performance.

As far as the music goes it will most likely be changed.. I can see how the Lost Viking boss music will get annoying to some people.

posted a message on [Introduction]POWER OVERWHELMING: Galactic Gladiators

Hello everyone! I'm Creation and I've been playing with Blizzard editors since I was about 13 years old. I'm 25 years old now and I have still never released a map over the internet, but that is about to change. 'Power Overwhelming: Galactic Gladiators' is a team based Active Time Battle system (ATB) where you progress through 50 boss fights while leveling up your fighter of choice. It is a hybrid system combining the ingenius elements of Final Fantasy 7, Chrono trigger, Japanese Anime, and Stacraft II. In this game you will not only be able to select from over 100 different abilities, but when your limit combo bar is full (Much like in Final Fantasy 7), you will be able to combine powers with another player on your team for a flashy cooperative attack (Much like in Chrono Trigger). Upon first release you will be able to choose from one of four unique gladiators, each with a different role: A Damage Dealer, a Tank, a Buffer/Debuffer, and a Healer. The Gladiators are aliens from the planet Vega and have chosen to participate in a Galactic Tournament to see who the most powerful fighters are in the Galaxy. In this tournament teams are consisted of 1 to 8 fighters, so some fights will be much bigger than others... and some fights you will fight a single boss with extraordinary power. After the first ten stages, a significant amount of thought will be required to overcome each battle, as enemies will only be thwarted by their weaknesses, which you, as a team must figure out. Shawn and I are both hoping that on release (about two months from now), you will be able to save and load character data, so you will be able to constantly progress the strength of your gladiators, and attain new abilities.

Progress: So far I have about 30 abilities made out of 100. Shawn is working on the boss fights, but we could use help to speed up the process. If you are interested in creating boss fights for this game, please contact me either in the IRC, or you can email me: [email protected] OR you can simply respond here and I will get back to you. As a Boss creator you will have complete creative control over the boss fights you induct into the game, and you will work with Shawn|rawr.

Requirements to join the team: - Proficiency with Camera Angles - Proficiency with Actor Messages - Proficiency with Triggers

Anyways I hope you guys enjoy the video, we are working hard to make this game and will not release it until it is of high quality.

Ensure the sound sile is in *.wav file format and compressed and this will solve your problem. Starcraft claims to support mp3 files but fails at doing so through the galaxy editor.
