I very highly doubt it is Sixen's project, more so being the messenger.
So if we believe that it is a rock, paper, scissors based game, and it is a map that is being developed, who is behind it becomes just as important as what it is.
I like the idea of asymmetrical maps; the idea that one side starts in a big base, whilst the other team is divided amongst smaller other bases, especially the idea of them fighting with each other. I say go for it mate, it's unique.
You missed the point, the point of the song I posted is that it makes fun of generic pop songs ... your song whilst related to this website, is no way related to this thread ... and Banelings is better than that IMO :)
In your trigger list Right Click - > Create New Record.
Name your Record 'player data'
Under that, Right Click -> Create New Variable
Name your variable 'player' and variable type "Record" (instead of boolean/integer) make sure it has 'player data' selected and make it an ARRAY size 15
....
Then go into your record and create new integers such as "kills" "deaths" etc ... do NOT make these arrays
....
Then to call them, say set Variable: Set player[Triggering Player].kills = +1 or w/e.
R: It's not balanced enough
A: Give it time, it's only been about 8 months since SCII's release and the devs aren't being paid for sotis.
I am not being paid for any of my projects, in fact they cost me money - not just opportunity cost, but financial cost as well. As Guinsoo once said, he was working more hours for Dota than LoL and wasn't even getting paid. This is the cost of being a map designer.
Dota Allstars had 24 heroes if I remember rightly, it took them another 6 years to hit 100. That is just over 1 hero added every 4 weeks, which is a very easy exercise to do - especially when so many people have walked the path before you, steal an idea here, steal an idea there, voila, new instant hero.
R: It's too much like DotA
A: You have to start with *something*, and DotA offers a good base to work on while other sections of SotIS is being developed.
Eck made his choice to use Dota as a launching platform for his map. This, as I stated before, is why he is in the position he is now. There was such a rush to be the new Dota in Sc2, this has sadly lead to a map that has a lot of potential, but I believe will be dethroned before any of it is seen.
Re heroes are not new: Show me the DotA heroes that Shadow.Geminus, Garamond.Singsprocket, and Gabriel.Tosh are (mechanical) copies of. For that matter, show me ANY sotis hero that's a copy of a DotA hero.
I have not played every hero but I can see similar themes behind the heros I have played - I do not think this is a bad thing, as ideas are just ideas.
This is because he was doing it wrong in the first place - he made a clone of Dota, even labelling his map as Dota-Allstars - this was no doubt the easy way to get players, but now you are in the position where people will judge and judge and compare it to Dota, because he himself first made the comparision, it is his own stupid fault, that is why his map is judge so harshly, because by the greater community they could very well think he cheated to get his popularity.
The theme change is less of a change than HoN and LoL ... that doesn't count ... change team name A, to team name B, does not consititute originality. The rune creeps are the only good idea eck ever came up with, the "unique" heroes are like lawl ... same formula, they are not unique mate. If he really wanted to be unique he would have came up with a whole new way of getting abilities, leveling up etc.
No no, you misunderstand, it is very much the opposite. There is huge potential remaining in the dota genre, I simply do not think Sotis bought enough of it to the table.
There is always going to be a fine line between innovation and having things similar enough that you can pull people from the crowd. Sotis is close enough to Dota/Hon/LoL that players from those games should be able to pick up Sotis very easily - this no doubt is intentional as it gives Sotis the biggest possible fan base. However, I do not believe it evolves enough away from the gameplay. It may very well do this in time, but I would like to see it evolve a little faster.
FYI, I facepalmed RCIX because I read his signature.
