    Oh wow! I remember playing this on TF2 a few months ago! Good fun! Besides an 'Influenced by Prop Hunt' I don't think credit needs to be given. Ideas are recycled all the time, often being improved each time. At the end the day, bounty made all of the triggers/units himself - ergo, his own work.

    Fair enough. It's a shame, but you have every right to do so, as the creator!

    I think you need to press 'resubmit for approval' (or something to that effect) on the project management menu. I happened to stumble across it a few weeks ago.

    Me and four buddies tried to play this the other day. One of my friends crashed in the load-screen, I dropped from the party as the game started, and the other three had some lag apparently. Seems like a very cool map though, we'll give it another shot in a few days time.

    You can stick the map just about anywhere; all you need to do is open it with the Starcraft 2 Editor. The default place though is My Documents/Starcraft II/Maps. Open it up with the galaxy editor and press 'Test Map' to play in singleplayer. It's not quite feasible to play them in multipler with the current system, however. (You'd have to publish the map in your own name, and even you'd need to invite people individually to play it.)

    I believe publishing is region-locked. So in order a mapper to publish a map on a different realm, they would need another person with an account on that realm to upload it for them. (In the above post I assumed that the map wasn't already uploaded because it was made in a different region.) Even if you could upload directly to a different realm, nobody would be able to play it anyway.

    Welcome to the wonders of the popularity system! The only way for you to play that map online is to publish it - either privately or publicly.

    So lets suppose you decide to play it publicly - you can put the real author's name in the description, I'm sure he would understand, right? So you go ahead and publish it, but guess what - your map is at the bottom of 20 pages of unplayed maps. You could literally sit in the lobby for days and not a single person would join. Your only option is to invite some people from your friends list. Don't have any friends online? Looks like you're playing alone tonight. Better get used to it! You'll need about 18-40 different games played within the hour, each with different people to even hope of getting random players to join.

    It gets better! A few weeks down the line; the mapmaker takes the time to localize it and gets his friend to upload it onto the new server. But wait! He can't anymore - the map has already been published by another person! You've gone and stolen the credit for a map that no-one will ever play - you monster!

    I'm probably being too cynical, but to me and many other players the current custom game system is significantly flawed. Hopefully when the content patches roll out, they'll start improving this area.

    @Jinxxx123: Go

    No problem!

    I managed to get around the item issue via triggers. Upon the units death, pick any items exactly where the unit died, and remove them:

        Events
            Unit - Any Unit dies
        Local Variables
            Items = (Empty unit group) <Unit Group>
        Conditions
        Actions
            Variable - Set Items = (Any units in (Region((Position of (Triggering unit)), 0.1)) owned by player Any Player matching Required: Item; Excluded: Missile, Dead, Hidden, with at most Any Amount)
            Unit Group - Pick each unit in Items and do (Actions)
                Actions
                    Unit - Kill (Picked unit)

    You should be able to make the range smaller than 0.1, I just used it for testing purposes. Item collision should also prevent the trigger from grabbing the wrong items, too. You also might want to tweak the trigger a bit so that it only runs when hero units die.

    Have you set the cooldown location to 'unit'? (In the item itself) My linked cooldowns seem to work ok...

    posted a message on Why bother? (Map Makers)

    I figure my map is about a solid month away from completion anyway. Hopefully blizzard can atleast add a 'sort feature' in that time. That said, I've had to seriously scale-back and dumb-down some of my features to cater for this popularity list. It's disheartening really. I never had to make compromises like that in Warcraft 3.

    posted a message on Starting from scratch

    @johanullen: Go

    In the data editor, if you click the 'all data' drop-down box, you can select it to show only the content created or modified in your map. Creating a unit completely from scratch is quite time consuming. It's not really feasible to make an entire map without libraries really; you wouldn't have any doodads, units, abilities or anything like that (I'm not even sure if its possible).

    Edit: I also find it helps to sort the data lists by 'source'. That way, all the custom stuff you have made will appear at the top of the list.
