Hey Eiviyn I've got a game for you to play:

Its called "Find the clickable URL link on the very first post".

You have been harassing people with honest issues for a long time now and I really hope that SC2Mapster's moderators have enough back bone to let you take a break for a while. This is you doing pure trolling and derailing the thread.

I'm not "harassing" people; I'm "harassing" you. If you think the only way to defend your opinion is to try to silence your opposition, then you are going to have a harsh life ahead of you.

A youtube link to a gaming critic is evidence? Right.

Hey I have an idea. How about you actually use logic and reason to prove my post wrong instead of making false claims.

You are just the resident troll. So far you don't quote sources, just make random claims like you actually knew something.

Nothing in your post is sourced. The onus of evidence is on the one making the claims. You made a bunch of claims, and cited no evidence.

    There's your "logic and reason".

You're quite welcome to think that.

Speaking of which, has anyone ever told you that you make the exact same grammar errors as TaintedWisp?

And your join date meshes quite smoothly with TaintedWisp's second banning?

    That's quite a coincidence.

If you think that any arcade map will be profitable by the time LotV comes out then you have got another thing coming. There will not be sufficient saturation, by a very long shot, to make the arcade profitable. And by LotV it will be too late to get any such saturation.

By the summer of 2014 the arcade will be fully written off. People know by now that Blizzard will drop support for LotV at the earliest possible moment, regardless of what state it's in.

And what would you know about the profitability of arcade maps?

posted a message on State of Mapmaking

I'm getting ready to release a bunch of content that I feel StarCraft sorely needs. I've already ran EU's #1 map for months now and had my fair share of mistakes and screw-ups, along with some harsh lessons in game design and how not to maintain a game.

The fact that Blizzard are willing to make arcade maps free to play is glorious.

The interest that the sc2 dev team are taking in their mappers appears (but it's just promises at this stage) to be extremely promising. Being able to talk directly with devs is great.

The upcoming Blizzard launcher will open up arcade content to millions of players with minimal fuss, all with the click of a single link that can be dropped on any internet forum.

I'm happy. I feel like the only one who is, though, especially with the upcoming SCU kickstarter failure (or so it appears), and the entourage of whining that will follow it.

posted a message on MSG From Blizzard.

My list in case anyone is curious. Already submitted to Blizzard so no need to include it.

    Quote:

Feature: Relax the terms of use for arcade maps

    Priority: 1

Use: Money is a great incentive. Allowing (tasteful) adverts or sponsorships for arcade maps would generate revenue for developers, increasing this incentive. Arcade maps that over-use adverts or sponsorship will be filtered down by the popularity system.

This would take the standard route of platforms that rely on user content, such as youtube or twitch.tv. StarCraft tournaments make great use of adverts and sponsors. Allowing the arcade to utilise the same rules would allow the arcade scene to grow.

I would use this to generate revenue and justify the time spent on my arcade content monetarily, allowing me to spend more time creating arcade content.

    -

    Feature: Map file protection

    Priority: 2

Use: Currently it is very easy for someone to steal your arcade map file and host it as their own work. I've been the victim of this, as have a few others. It is demoralizing to see your work stolen and rehosted under someone else's name.

I would use this to have piece of mind that my user-created content is not being used without my consent.

    -

Feature: All region inclusive map URL links

    Priority: 3

Use: The ability to link a StarCraft map with just a text link is amazing, but having to make sure that people select the correct link adds a needless layer of complexity.

    For example;

    starcraft://map/1/210321
    starcraft://map/2/104699
    starcraft://map/3/70837
    starcraft://map/5/22738
    starcraft://map/6/19262

    All these urls link to the same map, in different regions. It would be nice to unify the link, for example;

    starcraft://map/1/210321//map/2/104699//map/3/70837//map/5/22738//map/6/19262

Which combines all of the above. The client would pick the user's currently active region, and open the proper map link.

I would use this to create a simple "PLAY NOW" button for my arcade content on external sites.

    -

Feature: Improved space management of arcade interface

    Priority: 4

Use: Page 1 is what the arcade is. Anything not on page 1 seems to be "out of sight, out of mind". Maximizing the number of visible maps on each page would, in my opinion, improve this situation.

By removing or minimizing some of the graphics in the arcade interface, it should be possible to increase the number of maps per page from 16 (4x4) to 25 (5x5).

Certain elements of the UI just aren't needed, such as the star rating for each map which generally means little compared to a map's ranking.

    -

Feature: Multiple map files in the same arcade game

    Priority: 5

Use: Imagine uploading 4-5 different map files and linking each to a single arcade game. Upon starting the game, a random map file is chosen from the linked map pool. This would allow random or mode-specific map terrain for arcade games

This functionality is already somewhat present with the tutorial function, which is able to link a second map file to the "main" file.

I would use this to have multiple terrain variations for a single arcade map, without sacrificing the map's popularity. Playing on the same terrain for months gets old.

@Arkzan: Go Im not 100% sure on this aspect but i remember jade mentioning that banks are linked to publishers, and no other map can access that bank unless it has the same publisher. reuploading (changing the publisher) would then create a second identical and worthless bank. you should test that tho

Out of the nearly 5 million copies of WoL sold we are down to less than 75k watching ESports. No big deal except Blizzard exclusively focused on ESports while the arcade tanked.

The point I'm making is that it was a really stupid management decision that is not bringing in enough income to justify the effort. Saying ESports is doing "fine" when Blizzard expected it to pull in a significant amount of income (if you take into account fees for hosting tournaments and the fact that they created their own tournament league when no one else is going that route speaks pretty clearly that they expected to be able to make additional income off StarCraft 2's ESports scene.

Making a complaint is fine. Making the exact same complaint in every post you make for weeks gets boring.

You can also make your bank file/security triggers a series of math formulas and fake labels. Then just make it so if one thing is out of place, the player is marked as a bank hacker. I do this for my rank system in Total TD, but like others have said, it is impossible to make security 100% effective, especially when files are saved locally.

    Absolutely wrong.

    1) Download your map.
    2) Hack it and open it in the editor.
    3) Add a trigger for whatever reward you want.
    4) Publish and play on battle.net.

Your map file itself is not safe, so no amount of messing with the bank files is going to help.

Yes the player number can not be relied upon. Don't use it for team assignment if you care about preserving pre-game lobby teams.
