So to get the maximum amount of spread for your project, you either have to use only WoL assets - or make your entire own set of assets. Because they can't even see the damn map if you don't.

Not sure if I like this. I am pretty sure I do not like this at all.

    Still good work!

I doubt the client would be very big tbh. It's not like it will require a massive amount of files. No cutscenes, one or two terrain sets, a bunch of hero models, a few particles and the majority will be eaten by audio.

But let's wait and see, it's 10 days ahead. I just hope it's interesting.

Considering Blizzard Allstars has its own game director(the loser from D3 now). then It will be blizz allstars stand alone....

And to whoever says I am wrong, Blizz had a game director job for blizz allstars up 6 months ago 1 week before his departure from D3 it was removed from bliz site.

Oh god no. Not Jay Wilson. HEAVENS FORBID THIS.

The guy has no idea how to design a game at all and no respect for those who made Diablo what it is. If anything he should've been fired.

The original plan was to release it with HotS for all versions - and the Market Place was also supposed to hit with HotS. Probably they'd have sold new heroes and such via the Marketplace in connection to BNet.

Both have been nowhere to be seen and no word was given about this as far as I recall. It is likely that they shifted their focus on making it a standalone from SC2, so they could better incorporate important features into a different client, instead of putting it into SC2. If this is the case, I personally hope they either reworked the Artstyle a bit, so it doesn't look like they just ripped it out of SC2 or if they don't that they at least patch the assets into SC2 for us - saving us the work of having to transfer all those files.

It's not gonna be anything important. They'd keep that news for BlizzCon, would be dumb not to.

Mobile game might be a possibility.

posted a message on The strongest race? (A scientific study)

The Protoss have the problem that while they have quite some firepower, they'd have to glass every planet in the universe to get rid of the Zerg. Meaning nothing left for them to survive on. Terrans are probably the ones that would lose an all out war first, but not without dealing quite some damage to the other races. Though Arcturus would've probably had to be in power for this. He is a man with no moral holding him back, compared to his son.

It would lead to some small terran groups surviving in the long run until they suddenly get eaten or turned to glass. Problem is that Zerg quickly can basically devour entire planets in a day or two and a single drone is usually enough for them to mutate a Hatchery. Undetected, that is trouble without end. There is also the issue of Kerrigan knowing where Shakuras is. If the Protoss move their fleet away from the planet, they could come back to find the planet entirely destroyed by a massive Zerg invasion.

All in all it would probably end up with either the Protoss glassing every planet and the Zerg losing or the Protoss being overrun by the Zerg. There is no good outcome to this.

So PAX East will have a new game unveiled. It's not gonna be Titan and it's not a expansion pack says the internet.

I suspect it's Blizz Allstars as a standalone.

I feel like the fog is a little bit too much here, looks like it fits an icy terrain more.

Ye, it's not just fog, the lighting needs work as well. But really, I don't have the patience to do all that detail work for something that isn't used as a final product for people to play on. I just made it because Moza's Avatar looks at me like I did something unforgivable :P

Also, when are you guys going to put out a Multiplayer Beta for SCU? Kinda need something to play with friends besides Trials of Zeal :)

And here is a different one with less fog and if you can spot the baneling in the 2nd picture you get internet points.

@Mozared: Go I couldn't make anything with Zerus, because I am bound by laws to not make something so amazing that it leads to people going blind. So I made something else instead :P

    Also I totally didn't see that :P

    brb, making Zerus.

Not my best work ever done, but it's pretty okayish for the fact that I didn't spend any time properly lighting this. Could probably improve upon it quite a bit still, by putting little ice cliff doodads on the building edges, the tubes and other places, not to mention adding little powerlines between buildings and all that. But screw that, this was a test for something else, no point going full on Xara-Detail-Mode.

Also, all my hate for there being no volumetric fog in SC2. Seriously.

posted a message on [Spoiler] HotS Campaign Discussion
    Quote from Clord: Go

I finished the entire HotS campaign on a Hard difficulty and I didn't get that "Zerg is an endless swarm" feeling as I struggled to replace my troops etc.

Final mission is supposed to be something special but very few companies actually makes it so. Blizzard made it just to take an over hour but it lacked that something special to set it apart from the rest. Talk about a perfect moment it would have had to reveal Mengsk's actual plan to deal with the Zerg and flood the screen with some super units.

It only takes 1 hour if you don't just build endless waves of Raptorlings or evolve them into Hunters. You just send them for the planetary fortresses and blow them up and the npc armies deal with most of the flanks easily, while you just send endless waves against the Palace and defend with some Hydra/Muta/Queen groups.

One thing I really hated was that once again you had no relation to the real SC2 gameplay. No Larva injection, no upgrades besides 3/3/3 and all that. It's really taking out a lot of the macro play and just makes it straight forward action. It came down to spam Drones, spam Hatchery, run upgrades on 3 Evo chambers and spam units.

One thing I liked is that on lower difficulty levels you can actually finish entire missions just with Kerrigan if you want to :)

    Quote from Debe2233: Go

The only minor grimace I had was Kerrigan floating off at the end, bit weird that.

A lot of people seem to forget that Ghosts got retconned a lot recently. They can now set people on fire with their thoughts, create illusions of themselves similar to the Protoss and all that. They aren't just mind-reading-cloaking-highly-trained-killers anymore.

Kerrigan used to be a PI10 as I recall before becoming the Queen of Blades. As the Queen she had a PI of 13 I think - and now they couldn't measure it with the Index anymore after she became Primal. So not that hard to imagine that she can push her body slowly up from the floor. I mean she leaps at enemies in the campaign as well.

But it's Cheesy as all hell, yeah. But if you go back and play WC3, as much as I loved that, that is also terribly cheesy and a bit obvious in writing.

I wouldn't really call my walkway "new tech", just new cliff graphics and some cliff doodads to hide the giant gaping hole in the world mesh.

Though we can now make custom collision boxes for each asset with the Art Tools, as I recall, so it's not impossible to make better pathways without trickery.

Nice work though. But ye, as I said, pretty much anyone can now make pretty stuff with Zerus. Which is good, because we have way too much awful Terrain around.

Also, I found Zerg walls. Those who still know who I am and didn't come around later now can imagine me rapidly clapping my hands in excitement.
