How much of how you guys were modding the beta BEFORE the editor's release will be replace through the GUI of the editor? Will there still be a need (in some areas) to do xml editing or to have a code background in order to do some task? Will most of the tutorials posted on this site be obsolete due to being able to just do the same thing through Galaxy?
The XML modding/editing can all be done via an editor now. Recently, we were able to do it through MilkyWayEdit anyway. The Galaxy Editing can be done in their (or our) scripting editors as well.
Does that mean there's an SC1 Mode for the GE? Also, what units are there? Or have we a "gimped" version so Blizzard doesn't reveal any secrets to us about the campaign?
It's a conversion tool, converts the .scm/.scx/.w3m/.s3x to .SC2Map.
However, it looks like you can't get your own map displayed in the game creation. They are sending us the map listing and we can download them if we don't have them in cache (they just match the hash). I hope they are going to change that because it would be a real pain to send your map to Blizzard each time you want to test it.
I'm thinking we'll have to reupload the map for any changes that are made.
I think you can just crack the game to test the Galaxy Editor.
That's for a good cause, or not? ;)
I'd rather not "crack the game," that'd put us on Blizzard's bad side, :P. Regardless, the GalaxyEditor is not included in the Beta anyway, so it's just not there.
MWE or straight .xml editing, doesn't seem to make a difference.
For example if the UnitData.xml has only one unit in there, in-game will still show regular unit (like Marines, Marauders, etc.) in the unit list (shown in the help menu). Clearly it's loading stuff from the client folder, but editing the game folder contents isn't what I want to do. Of course, if I edit the units to be different then they will change on the list, but it doesn't actually remove any of them.

I tested one of my maps from a while ago and it looked horrible.. I should try testing a normal map.

It seems like MWE can do things better than GalaxyEdit right now... MWE has auto-complete with Galaxy API, GE does not, :).

I have no idea what you're talking about, but that's a really good question.

It's really simple to do it manually, it's just a matter of replacing a file. Not sure how it works with GalaxyEdit though, it's not yet released.

Yup, got the confirmation myself.

I think that'd be pretty awesome.

Ah, this might be of some help...
