I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but I'll try to answer anyway.
A folder doesn't actually do anything, it's just there to keep things more organised. Any gloabl variables you create in a folder will automatically be useable in any other folder.
It would be helpfull if you gave some more details on this, but. Have you tried assigning variables to each button then in your trigger use those variables to check which button was pressed.
it can be done with triggers, I have in fact already made that before, however I am now at work and don't have access to the editor here. When I come home I'll copy and paste the triggers I used
I've experimented a little with making an sc2mod, and for as far as I could figure out an sc2mod is something that will be loaded as a dependancy. So, you should be able to make a mod and add it to any of the campaign maps.
It is something I'm currently investigating too as part of a project, I changed some .sc2layout files and imported them into my map under this path "Base.SC2Data\UI" but somehow my custom layout doesn't appear when testing my map... /puzzled

To learn more about variables there's a wonderfull tutorial here on mapster: http://forums.sc2mapster.com/development/tutorials/2051-beginners-guide-to-triggers-variables-arrays-constants/

convert to dds or tga and place it on the map as a label using the trigger editor
or...try this: http://forums.sc2mapster.com/development/tutorials/2303-texture-how-to-create-a-ground-super-duper-supertexture/

Assign a text tag a variable and detroy them by referencing that variable name
or...if you don't use any other dialog items in that dialog, you can just use "Destroy All Dialog Items"
