I know a lot of you have questions on how to use the M3 plug ins, how to install them, troubleshooting weird errors and such, you might have some 3ds max questions or general questions about modeling, hell, even image editing and how tos of photoshop/dds plug ins.
I haven't had the time to finish my fancy tutorial with videos and stuff so I thought that the solution would be take a little time and answer questions.
So I came up with CorboCast!
Basically, I'm going to be streaming live, you're supposed to ask me questions in a chat and if I can (really, if I can) I'll answer them while explaining to you.
You'll see what I'm doing in my desktop and so on while I explain you too (like a video tutorial but LIVE!)
Here's the channel I have set up:
I plan on being there tomorrow (monday the 5th) at around 4:30PM GMT-6 (Central America, I live in El Salvador) and keep doing it periodically (still not sure if weekly or twice a week and such)
I can cover up your questions on:
Exporting textures, editing them, making .dds files, importing textures to the editor, making custom tilesets, custom unit textures, 3d modeling in general, basics of animation & texturing, using the m3 plug ins (exporting, importing, sequences), getting your models into SC2 and you can pretty much get the picture of the kind of stuff I'll be covering.
If you're interested show up and I hope to see you there!
I know I'm pretty much a random guy for most of you but I've been helping around in the M3 plug ins topic, around in this forum and I've been in mapster ever since basically, since we started :P I had the opportunity to have a lot of "first tileset done!" "first 3PS!" "first x!"
I watched Corbo today with a short test run, he did a small something tutorial related to exporting/importing models and making them dds files, definitely worth watching. Corbo's been a big Artsy guy around here, and knows what he's doing. And like he said, he made the first tileset and the first custom UI, :).
You're right, my bad, it's PM.
I think it is mountain time, not sure, though. it's 00:48 for me at the time of posting this, so just assume say... 18 hours from now? :P

Yup, MST seems correct. Could potentially be PDT (which is the same time this time of year, but MST does not account for Daylight Savings).
The stream is cool, needs a but more organizing, but I enjoyed it and learned. We just need more people to ask questions or a main topic that is used while no one asks.
I agree, it needs more organization, partly is because I thought it'd be a good idea to have everysingle program opened already before the cast...which only made my laptop lag as you could see :P
But another part of it was because it was my first time at doing this, obviously next times will improve, sound wise and performance wise (I'll be on a desktop instead of my laptop)
The most I saw today was 8 viewers, though, I wasn't really checking on the viewer count so there could've been more.
In today's cast we talked about .m3 models, which are the model files used by SC2's engine. I explained devourer (from Staredit.net) how to import a simple model into Galaxy Edit. In this case the model was a simple cube with a random texture I had.
I also explained the process of extracting unit textures and the making of a "Terran Zealot"
We also troubleshooted depthofchaos on a very specific model question, his model didn't look continuous, we found out it was a normal issue and solved it.
depths came up with the same suggestion I had. You should run each Cast with a certain topic in mind and reserve some time for people who have questions afterwards, ;). It'd make it a hell of a lot more organized.
Something interesting I just saw was using 2D Images. Could also do Terrain Masking via MilkyWayEdit once that goes public, which should hopefully be soon, :).
Yesterday night aGoomba had an issue over IRC that got us into an unofficial stream.
I explained him the basic steps he should follow to export a model into .M3 and mentioned the requirements he must meet.
We went from this:
To this:
And here's the final model he should have with a texture I provided:
Next CorboCast will be on this Friday at 4:30 (GMT-6).
By petition of... everyone :P I've set a main topic and then I'll be answering questions on anything if there are any.
_______
This Friday on CorboCast...
The making of: Textures!
- Making a NEW TILESET!
- Where to get Textures?
- How to make them if I can't find them?
- How to save them for starcraft?
- My textures aren't continuous! How to make them seamless?
- Now that I am done how do I use them?
Hey guys, I figured I'd give a shot at this.

I guess, it'll be better that way. I'll let you guys choose what topic you want the next CorboCast to be in.
Here's some suggested topics:
- Photoshop tricks & tips: working with .dds files
- Modeling basics
- Explanation on the M3 plug ins
- Easily animating a model
Of course, you can promote more topics. Consider this kind of like a poll :P If no one votes I'll make the next cast about photoshop & dds files.
Something interesting I just saw was using 2D Images. Could also do Terrain Masking via MilkyWayEdit once that goes public, which should hopefully be soon, :).
Nice. that should help lots of people.
