I've got an expanding team for a map project called "Risk: Rise of the Reich".
The name is pretty self explanatory. Its a Risk/Diplomacy style map.
Current Developers:
Lead Developer, Data Editor, UI Designer, Misc: FockeWulf
Trigger editor: Meta (DarlD)
Terrain Editor: Yeti
Webhost: Malpheus
Balancer and general bug finder: Vetraeus
3d Artist 1: Ryan
3d Artist 2: (Open)
2d Artist 1: (Open)
2d Artist 2: (Open)
Whats different:
-World War 2 Theme
-World War 2 Custom models
-Custom UI
-A fanbase already built up
-Several modes.
The 2 modes in the works now:
First we are working on the mode "Rise of the Reich":
-The map is a full world map which due to some cool tricks I've developed is made to look and act bigger than it really is. IE to the point where you can zoom in so close that a line of 6 depots would fill a 22" wide screen and the terrain doesn't look horrid. In fact every time I show the following 2 pics to random people, they simply don't believe it:
Now what is Rise of the Reich?
Well Rise of the Reich is kind of an FFA. Except when you conqure an enemy nation they getting added as a puppet nation to your "Reich". When one player has taken over all enemies all players become part of NATO. Then the *Alien Invasion* starts. Imagine fighting off Imortals with Panzer V Panthers? Or M4 Shermans if you are really brave...
We are doing a complete set of custom models and if you can fill one of those emtpy slots in the developement team please contact me in any of the following ways:
Skpye: [email protected]
Email: [email protected]
Teamspeak 3: teamspeak.gamingrapture.net or brokenalliances.com
Pm on these forums.
Or simply reply to this thread with a method I can contact you.
This is a big project thats going premium. Most of the team is already put together and developement is already in progress, we just need a few more team members and then we ought to have this ready a little after HotS release.
Bad UI design for a risk map, not the way you have it set out but the graphics. Try grayscaling some of the default graphics from Blizzard, like the semi-transparent ones ... they work really well ... your UI should blend in a bit if you are keeping the default Sc2 UI ... that light blue theme is really bad IMO.
I greyscaled the default tooltip backgrounds in Tofu and it turned out really nice, just import them to the same dir as same name and it overrides the default ... shades of grey will work well with any race ... otherwise you should make the UI change colour depending on race ... I know you are looking for these positions but I figured posting it might give some helpful hints to anyone who joins.
Interesting concept, though those boats look hideous. No offense. Creative use of enlarging the map, though - does it play with a different camera setting too?
All i want to say that in WW2 Diplo, the Anti-Tank system was shit, heavy tanks arent effected much by tank destroyers, and make the cost and supply of Tanks less, cause most people i play with just spam tanks and forget about Naval, Infantry and Air.
this is very cool stuff. aside from how vague that was, if u want someone to spend hours texturing your terrain id be happy to in exchange for a peak at your triggers lol. I've been interested in a risk style map regarding how territories work and how they are linked to the scoreboard, reward new/different units etc..of course, Ive played ww2 diplo, but most of my curiosity sprung from page 2's european risk revolution when i saw how easy it all looked and had so many ideas on how to make it better.. The creator of that map was in my team for maybe 2 days of activity looking for help.. unfortunately you can only bring a man so far and his map will stay on page 2 lol! :0
I never got a look into his system but I do have a fondness for terraining. texturing.. its basic but i can do it til it looked like the mona lisa.. ill spend hours, if not days critiquing to perfection and you won't be disappointed. I imagine your looking for a real world look so, where i fall short, I'm willing to learn anything I need to in order to do the job right.
Anyways good to see the post was finally changed. I am very lax in most areas but slandering a map in the maker's official thread is off limits to my morals.

The trick is increasing the ground texture resolution - see this for an example: Left high res, right normal res: http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i333/marshallwellington/Terrain010.jpg
The full world map, until it comes back from the terrainer, looks like this: http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i333/marshallwellington/Terrain016.jpg
Lots of other features, well designed and streamlined UI: http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i333/marshallwellington/Screenshot2012-03-1417_15_16.jpg http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i333/marshallwellington/Screenshot2012-03-1419_26_57.jpg
The other mode, Call to Arms, will be made after Rise of the Reich is complete. Call to Arms is a historical mode.
This game has the following kinds of units, Air, land a sea units.
Yes using WW2 Diplo's Amphibious system (which I developed) we have successfully made water and naval units a reality: http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i333/marshallwellington/Screenshot2012-02-2323_48_40-1.jpg

lol....
Alliterations are awesome?

Well a lot of that is temperary stuff left over from the old map.
Have a new modeler. Here is his first warship: Alaska Class Battlecruiser: http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff411/ryan9001/Ryans%20WW2%20Diplo%20Modeling/AlaskaClassCruiserShowcaseSmall.png

Pst, Dogmai, not everything needs to be related to Tofu.
Hey man! I just read a post on battle.net http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/5578595217 If you have any bug report/request please do it :) I'll gladly look into it
Thank you Leruster.
As for the comments about WW2 Diplo imbalance...
Our gameplay design is made from lessions gained from WW2 Diplo. WW2 Diplo is based on strategic play. RotR is tactical.

I'm sad that you're considering discontinueing the project, FockeWulf. It was a valiant effort and I'm sure your efforts won't be wasted.
@Charysmatic: Go
Sigh...
Its not being discontinued atm...
