Hey everyone, finally cranked out another tutorial... this time I will be showing how to make items, item classes, item bags/equipment, pawning items, and "mob" loot. Only thing I don't show is buying items, but Bifuu has shown that already :D

Hi OneTwo, Just wondering if you can help me with a problem that's perplexing me and no one seems to be able tell me a solution to? I'm just wondering if you know how to prevent the shop from selling items to a unit that currently has a full inventory? The problem with mine is that it'll still sell the item even though the unit does not have any space left in the inventory.
There might be something you can do with Events+ on the shop to make it disable it's buttons or not show the buy buttons for units with a full inventory.
Optionally you could put a region around your shop and then check if the unit has free inventory space when it enters the region / periodically when it is inside the region and do something based on that (Like making the player unable to select the shop or whatever)
Maybe my memory is wrong, but didn't war3 drop the item on the ground if your inventory was full? I can't remember too well though because I have diablo 2/war3/WoW all mixed up in my brain.

I have no idea what was the default but most maps would not allow you to buy if the inventory was full in war3.
I'm having some trouble creating a unit item. When adding an object it says on your screen that your basing it off of "ITEM (Unknown)" but I don't have that. I tried using "Default Settings (Item)" with it's object type set to "Item" as well but I don't seem to have the same fields as you. I don't have a "
Stats - Item" to edit for example.
... this is odd... keep in mind the tutorial is a bit older.
Does anyone else know what Grimm's issue may be? I'm supposed to be writing a paper atm so I shouldn't open the editor LOL. I shouldn't even be here... come on onetwo... get back to work.
I would try just making a regular unit... I think they have the item field.
One Major question i have is how do i make items stackable? like quest items an such. they wont be doing anything, like with health pots where i've seena tutorial how to add counts. but like everytime u pick up an item, if it's a certain kind, it can be stacked up to a certain amount (how do u set that amount too). great video, 5/5
Surprisingly, right now I think it's actually quite difficult. But don't quote me on this. I haven't played around enough, but right off the bat I have not seen a quick and easy way to stack items.
anyway, im a bit shocked how long it takes to set up a single item:
- create a button for description
- create the item itself for the class
- create the buff for the item effect
- create a unit for the item
- create an actor for the unit
...
all this has to be done for EVERY item. so just imagine how long it would take to create a big map with 100s of item in it oO
i was already annoyed in the wc3 editor because you always had to create a new ability for every single item (i was always wondering why its not possible to define the item effect directly). and now in the GE you have 4 times more work like bevore?! this is unaccaptable imo.
i think it could be faster to script own items via triggers.

Here's a random thought: If anyone knows the structure of an SC2 map, I could probably make PHP scripts (lul) that allow you to upload a map, specify tasks that you want done (eg. define 100s of items), and then download a copy of the map with those things done. It'll take a while but would be worth it.
i followed your tutorial to the KEY ( twice ) and i have the same problem.
when every hting is done and i try to place the item ont he map like you do . i get 2 problems
1- i only see 2 of the 3 items ( armor and the ling vennom ) i dont see the sword
2- it seems my actor doesnt stick , when i try to palce them , it places a Invisible item , and when i go to the unit to see the item , it doesnt have an actor linked to it.
any ideas??
Fixed problem 2 : i just gave it a bag actor insted of creating one , and changed unit to the item.
and for problem 1: i only see 2 cause the sword is set to (none ) as a category EVAN DOH every thing is set to ITEM in the data editor. witch means i cant pick it up or sell it , freakign weired
HELP PLEASE!!!
Onetwo though your videos are fantasitic, and help so many of us.
I have a problem
Iv done everything you said and iv checked everything but the item when its created and my hero picks it up, the item doesnt show in the heroes bag and doesnt alter the heres attributes?
I dont know what iv done or missed, are there any common causes for this?
This tutorial is almost 6 years old. Things have changed and a lot wont work the way it used to. You're better off asking in the data section as onetwo hasn't even logged in in 3 years.

I want something like WCIII where u can technically still "buy" an item but it'll give an error if your inventory's full.

Well I guess it's up to blizz then. They gave us item trigger events... so maybe we'll get a lot more on release too.
Keep up the good work :)

Tell me about it Mille...
My rpg has like 10-15 items done. And I have to make the purchase button for each one! :(
100's to go!
