Some of these aren't literal. The terran ghost isn't an invisible spirit. The Viking isn't a half naked raider in snow. And the Thor isn't a real god of thunder. These are nonliteral names. I thought most of them were pretty good.
Edit: And I see the Paladin as a warrior fighting for peace. Therefore I see the robotic paladin as a t1 or t2 heavily armored robotic security warbot. I don't see how you don't see its potential.
Ghost is like a ghost in that it appears out of nowhere to haunt the enemy and vikings are raiders capable of moving on two forms of transport (land and air as opposed to land and sea) while thor is the bringer of thunder with it's big guns.
Also I was under the impression that these robots were not fighting for peace.
@Yukaboy: Shade and Mirage are excellent names! I thought about Phantom too but it sounds lika a male name and I was thinking about a new name for my cloaking dropship, I guess Shade or Mirage will do, thanks!
@DrSuperEvil: Why do they need a ground detector? Leave this role for the spellcaster flyer, and think of a new role for the ground thing.
Teleportation like Nydus isn't hard. Load units into structure, teleport them to a target or another structure.
The ground detectors are always stationary turrets of some sort, with flying ones being the more mobile kind.
Terran: Missle Turret and Raven
Toss: Photon Cannon and Observer
Zerg: Spore Crawler and Overseer
It just works... And it makes sense your mobile detector would fly, as it would get a better view of things and could work with a bat-like sonar, vesus a ground detector where something like sonar would get interferance from cliffs and hills.
And the idea presented stated that T3 units were built by workers, not merged from T2 units.
I dont want them to be Xel'Naga made. I prefer man made. But they're going to be a new melee race and maybe, just maybe, the community will work on a campaign for them, so I don't really care about that right now.

They could just be completely randomly made... My idea was revised into a race that simply downloaded their consciousness into a mainframe, evolving into machines.
@DrSuperEvil: Lol Yeah and we still buy that $h!+ But we can use any of our ideas and it would be better. Xel'Naga made. man made, Protoss made or even Critter made is better than random atomic accident made.
The idea I gave (idk if any of you read it) was that the Dominion was experimenting on Protoss robotics and AI on Castanar when Raynor got there. Their project was supposed to be a new robotic worker that carried the terran/protoss advanced schematics it needed to colonize hostile worlds too harsh for Terrans. During the Hybrid rampage this worker escaped and now it is carrying on the plan. Eventually they will reappear as a new robotic race.
Not sure if you guys have this already, but I was thinking of splitting the worker roles. The mining robot would do all the mining for the race. However, there would also be a construction robot. This would construct buildings and repair buildings as well. However, I thought to myself of the other uses this could have. So, I decided the construction robot could also repair damaged robots. So it would kind of be like a medic too. You would have to buy them separately, but they would also be better at what they do. What do you guys think?
That can be unfair for both sides. First it makes the player spend more resources second it allows the player to send out repair units or builder units without the fear of losing any mining time. Maybe make the construction robot actually transform into the building so that way the player won't be able to have like 50 repair units with them. Terran you won't send out 50 scvs to go repair tanks or anything, you'll send a few out. So to limit your numbers you have to make them more valuable then just construction robots, make them actual buildings.
Also, may I make a suggestion: The workers shouldn't repair stuff. A couple other units maybe, but not the workers. It makes them too much like SCV clones imo.
If I understand correctly, we have shield and repairs, correct?
In that case, I suggest that the shield regenerates slower than what we see from the toss, due to the face that their basic health can also be healed.
@AtikLYar: I guess not all units/buildings will have shields. The Clanker is one that surely has, but units like the Droid and the Scout Drone probably wont. It makes their shield not as good as protoss shield and the related upgrade probably cheaper.
I would give some of the casters, ranged and melee attackers, and some of the buildings some shields. It depends on what the unit or building is though. Example: A melee combat unit would probably have shields at T1 or so. The primary town hall would also probably have a shield. Maybe some of the defenses could have shield too. I was also thinking maybe we could have a building that comes with like repair drones that float around and when a nearby damaged unit comes by it can be repaired in return for the building's energy. What do you guys think of those ideas?

New ideas, tell me whenever you get around to it that these suck too.
I looked into more stealth-like names...
Shade, Mirage (Name), and Phantom.
Also, new building idea. How about some kind of teleportation device similar to the nydus network? That'd be interesting...
If you mean like the WC3 waygates then that could prove to be a data editing (especially minimap actors) challenge, but should be possible.
Name wise those are better but I thought shade was already taken by the one zeratul ability that was scrapped?

<<it wished to be bound no more, it wished to explore the universe, it felt superior to huma...>>
how can robot wishes?
The story got a nice concept, but I hate that word, ''wishes''....
I personnally don't want them to be man-made... but it seems to just be me...

It also gets away from the 'hive mind' aspect.
Heck lets just use the big bad radioavtive meteor in the junkyard concept, it worked for Marvel and DC so why not us.

I suggest we leave the worker pretty basic.

Every unit can have individual customizations so maybe there could be a minor shield one for some units.
