“Infested Outpost” is a multiplayer arcade game where one team, the humans, tries to defend an arctic base, while the other team, the zerg, tries to infest/destroy it. Choose between several characters and utilize a multitude of tactical options to achieve your goal. I got the idea from the very well-made The Thing, although I wanted a map with better terrain and more tactical options. This is just at the planning stage, but I think it would be cool to play.
Available tactics
Terran
Pick up weapons and items. Available items include: attachable radar, health and energy restorations, resource pickups.
Build defensive and tactical structures.
Lay out traps.
Free prisoners to assist you.
Pilot available vehicles.
Pay (expensive) mercenaries for assistance.
Close doors temporarily by draining them off energy.
Zerg
Place virophages to send infested colonists against the terrans.
Poison items to hurt the terrans if they pick them up.
Spread creep tumors towards and inside the base to move faster and utilize structures.
Burrow underground.
Infest prisoners to turn them against the terrans.
Use nydus worms to infiltrate the base from the inside.
Open doors permanently by destroying door openers.
Characters
Terran
Marine: The marine is a fighter and prefers direct combat, using several weapons, many of which he can pick up in various locations.
Ghost: The ghost is a tactician, and is the master of cunning tactics, carrying only an assault rifle, as he favors spells over traditional weapons. He is vulnerable, and must use stealth to stay alive.
Spells: Ultrasonic pulse, hold fire, blink, void prison, snipe, EMP.
SCV: The SCV is a worker, and acts as the team’s backbone, as he compensates for his absent fighter skills by building protective structures. He can take more damage than he can deal directly.
Queen: The queen acts as the base commander by controlling the zerg structures and overlords, birthing minions, and expanding creep. Can burrow, but not move underground.
Talents: Not decided yet.
Infestor: The infestor acts as the zerg’s infiltrator and spellcaster. Can move underground (albeit slowly), poison items, infest the terrans and more.
Spells: Not decided yet.
Roach: The roach is the zerg’s primary attacker. He can move swiftly underground, deal substantial damage, and morph into other units.
Morphs to: Not decided yet.
Keep in mind that a lot of this can change. Feel free to contribute your own thoughts and ideas! I hope to create a map that makes you think, but also engages you with great-looking terrain, a good soundtrack, and a tense atmosphere.
Here are some photos of the map terrain, which I've been working on today. I tried to recapture the feel of the movie The Thing, with a combination of grey/black buildings, white snow, and blue light. Be aware that the pictures look somewhat bluer than in the gameplay (because I've zoomed in).

Is this in place of camp delta? Seems like a lot of work to do both.
It's a new idea, and it won't be replacing anything.
