I'm a huge fan of the FF series. But how do you come up with all the statistics?
I mean base health, mp, attack, crit, ... Do you get them from somewhere (ingame)?
Btw will you be adding the "limit" gauge from FF7? :D
If this will be released, you'll see me for hours online on SC2 :p
I wanted to finish a demo before releasing any video material, but i realized it would happen year 2056... So i'm updating with a sneak-peek at what I've done.

Edit: Also, it would be great if a mod could rename this thread to "Voliar's Revenge".
I hope you add somekind of job/esper/materia system. (I think the esper system was my favorite system of all ff:s iv played, partly because espers were so big of a deal in the plot.) It should increase the fun factor creatly!

I've been brainstorming on this front for quite some time. I've decided to have like a skilltree, where you unlock certain levels by gaining BP "Battle Points" which is determined by how well you fight (damage taken, how long it took to win and so on). Also as you can see in the video there's the "Skill" action. You will aquire more skills through leveling and questing/side-questing, so if you want the REALLY good stuff, you gotta put some effort into it, like Knights of the Rounds(FF7).
sounds a bit too simple for my taste. Maybe post some screenies/video about it when its done?
If you dont know in the esper system you gain attributes/mana regen/etc... when you level up, You gain skills when you equip esper long enough and you can use esper abilities in battle (so atleast I had fun time choosing the different espers and trying to gather the skills).
Your system might be fine too, but the battle system/skill system is the key point of making your map interesting!

It might sound simple but I don't want to take a larger bite than I can chew. I have done that too many times which ends up with me just ditching things because I can't complete it.
And even though it sounds simple, I will try making things as interesting as possible. Meaning it will not just be "You gained a Skill. Strong Blow - Deals damage" it will be more complex than that.
i cant even explain how amazing and exciting that video is. the video is so polished and the terrain and story both look VERY promising. heres to a starcraft-final fantasy game that wont disappoint! are you working with a team? if not have you considered? you could get a lot more done and it would be easier NOT to bite off more than you can chew and still do everything you want before 2056. :) hope im not being captain obvious by suggesting this, i just think i might die of anticipation in the next month or so, haha.
Nice to see progress going. Honestly with this current battlnet system, people like you or malu05 would have to resort to making awesome single player map :)

Thanks for the comment. On the team part, i work alone. Though i might look for a data-editer since i just can't comprehend it's complexity.

I don't really care much for multiplayer maps, at least not in small scale. It needs a story and so on for me to concider it. On another note, i would love to have malu05's sense of environment. The terrain he makes is astounding.
Yeah, I considered myself a map maker in SC but the few hours I've spent with the galaxy editor have brought me to the realization that I'll never be able to make a top of the line map without hundreds of hours invested which, now that I'm older, I don't exactly have. Haha.
Wow, this is incredible!!
Amazing project.

THis is pretty impressive. It'll be awesome when its complete, and even more awesome when its multiplayer
Dude! You're famous!!!
This is incredible, great work.
I would love to apply this to my map(s). Look forward to public release!!
How did you get that outline on selected units? It looks cool.
As I thought it is "Send Actor Message To Unit" (Halo Start)
Looks totally awesome. I wish it would be multiplayer (the sad thing would be you couldnt use ff music or name :/).
Anyway gl with the project
Totaly Awesome ! Hope you get it finished ;) and maybe release an uncut version we can play Private ;)
anyone else hungry for an update on this outstanding project?

Update looks amazing.
Any plans for a library or a tutorial so we can all use this? :)

Thanks! The map will be released without being locked so anybody can look into it. I might make a tutorial on key parts that is needed.
