Don't really have all that model editing stuff setup, kinda lost 3DS during my move to Win7. Changing face detail through geometry will be out of my current capabilities, personally i'd want to make her eye sockets less deep, and her nose bridge less thin. But i'll see what i can do with what i have.

Keep in mind the red hair one is actually a modified model. Mine's just Nova model with modified skin, it has to replace nova. It would be cool if we could could collaborate.
I can definitely make the hair less shiny. The problem with looking at these models from afar, is their big features become dominant (ie the gray sections that was in the original Nova texture), and the rest kinda disappears. I probably can't retain the fine lines and details at a distance, even if i pushed my shop skills to the limit, but i could experiment with adding in shadowing and depth between armor layers to see if i can get some big elements into the model visible from afar.
Thanks for the input. I was ready to give up on her face. But i just got some new ideas to fix her face up, while writing this reply.
I love the armor being more white and the hair being the right color But I liked how the other one has bright lights, kind of like Tosh, on her. The face could always have more details. But since it's just a hero details aren't that big a deal, although some more detail would be nice.
EDIT: If you could add these textures to the red hair one it would probably look perfect or close to. Would I be able to just apply this texture to the red haired model? I don't want to lose Nova or Echo, I have plans for them.
Hi onisagi. I was one of the people who requested that Underpantz make a Nova with white armor. Your version looks awesome! Here are some suggestions:
Gun - I think the gun should remain the original color.
Armor - I think the armor should be a slightly darker shade of grey. This will make the difference between the armor and the bodysuit more noticeable.
Face - I think that unless you can make a face that looks a lot like Kerrigan's, it would be better to keep Nova's face.
Here are some pics of a Kerrigan model I saw. I don't think it's downloadable (sorry everybody, I wanted it badly too). But I think the creator made some good choices.
Well in order to make it not all solid grey. I kind of meant you could increase the difference between the light and dark parts of the armour. Like in these few pictures.
Hi Keyeszx. Yes, that does look like the pictures I posted. Unhunted uploaded that asset after I sent him a PM to request it. I imported it into my map and got everything working. It look awesome. I'm very pleased with it.
That one looks amazing, but I wish it had the same glow and shoulder pads that the red haired model does.I wonder how onisagi's will turn out, he did say he was adding shadowing or something right?
Not sure about Onisagi's shadowing. Yeah, the glow and shoulder pads in the red haired model is cool. I think that maybe Unhunted's model also has a glow. I wonder if it's just my graphics card that's not showing the glow...
Been kinda busy, only did some minor contrast changes which kinda improved the shadows. I decided to put some more gray in the armor itself for now, while i think about how to add the shadowing.

Unhunted only edited the diffuse map (*_diffuse.dds), which is just the coloring and shades, probably why he called his asset "recolor". It's normal for it not to have any glow, you need an emissive map for that (something that would probably look like this *_emissive.dds), which is included in Underpantz's model/skin release.
When i get 3DS back on my win7 boot, i'll add in the glow.
Ah. Thanks for the explanation, Onisagi. Your model's looking pretty good! I like the changes you made to the face, gun and armor. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.
but I wish it had the same glow and shoulder pads that the red haired model does.
I wish I could've done something like that. Sadly, I do not have any way of editing models other than forcing them to use other textures. I could *probably* get something somewhat similar through messing with the alpha of the texture, but it wouldn't glow and wouldn't look as cool.
It also doesn't help that the Nova model doesn't have an *_Emissive texture at all. :(
I have the same problems. If nova had the emissive map, we can just reuse it or adjust it. I'll see if i can solve this problem for everyone, someday... xD

You should make a version of her with the zerg tendril hair
Your model's shaping up extremely well. I see you got a glow on the armor. And the face is really good. Aside from making the hair redder (which you said you were planning to do), I can't think of anything else you could do to improve the model.
I agree with DanOwl. It would be awesome if you could make a version of Kerrigan with the zerg "dreadlocks". Everything could stay the same, except the color of her face and her hair.
The scene has good ambient lighting compared to my galaxy editor screenies, i should probably take in-game closeups. Any specific parts that make it awesome, that i can learn from?
That almost neon orange looks pretty nice, not sure if its from better lighting or just the color itself is brighter. I'll see if it'll look nicer with better defined hair and a brighter color.
@DanOwl: Go
If i just do a texture and bump map edit on her hair to make the illusion of tendrils... i think it'll look strange. Dunno if i wanna model tendrils on her, too much effort xD.
I don't know if it's the lighting in the picture or what... but I think the color of the armor and body suit is better than in your WIP model. The color of your body suit and armor are too light, in my humble opinion. It's possible that your model looks more like the in-game cinematic. But I feel that the model in the pic I posted fits better in the playable game.

Upcoming Changes:
None
Long Term Goals:
Add Emissive map
Make standalone model (not replace Nova)
Lemme know what you think. What additional things might need changing/modifying.
Some questions i have:
Is the gun being white, strange? or should i make it metallic again?
- Old but still relevant pictures
Different Angles (click to see larger image): Top/Bottom = Original/Changed
Closeup: Top/Bottom = Original/Changed
Ingame: Left/Right = Original/Changed
More details on the face and it would be kick ass
Looks nice, though yeah the face could be a bit more interesting...
I wonder if you could make the hair a little less... shiny. Also from a distance all the parts of the armour and the gun kind of blend together :(
Looking nicer than that version which is basically nova with solid red hair.
