Hey everyone Im making Nazi Zombies, its going to be based off Nazi Zombies from Call of Duty and im ganna make it in TPV.
Im looking for partners to help me make this game, and i specially need help with making a TPV aspect. So far I have made a basic map layout,
but definitly needs to be more appealing, and ive made some basic triggers but the game is far from done... So please im looking for partners on this project
Is TPV third person view? IF so....I really hate to tell you this but battle net can't handle those maps. ( I think. somebody correct me if I'm wrong)... Blizzard said battle net can not support first/third person shooters without lag. That recent one made (project vector) can do that stuff because it is single player.....So your options are these-
1- Switch to a top down view
2- Proceed with third person but risk it being unplayable due to lag.
3- Make it in third person but Single Player.
If you really want third person, I would suggest building it for single player but making it in such a way that it would easy to add in multiplayer. I actually wanted to do the exact same thing a while back but I quit. If you want to see how I got the third person to work, I'd be happy to send you that portion of the map file. I did NOT get the shooting to work, tho. I was using a temporary missile thing.. :D
That should get you started. I think even if you're looking for partners its good to know how to do a little of this part, just so you can freely adjust things too.
Yeah ive been hearing this also, I might do a top down view TDV where your character is always centered in the screen and you can shoot in any direction. But i really want TPV, so i might make two different versions, single player TPV and multiplayer TDV. Will see what happens
TPV has worked in some maps in the past, as long as you limit it to 3 players and use low graphics settings, there shouldn't be huge lag issues.
I'm interested in seeing how you do the barriers. Are you going to use beacons attached to triggers, or have character abilities? either way, I'm very interested in seeing what you do with this project.
The barriers might be a little tricky for me, but so far i made regions were the players cant pass to go in the little rooms, and for the making of the barriers i might make some kind of doodad into a unit that can be built and has heath and it will be a enemy to the zombies. so they will kill it first then move on to try and kill the players. and make it so you the player can rebuild the dead unit like on the campaign where you can rebuild those Thors back to life. This is what i got on paper but will see how it works.
For barriers, make it so when they die you create a broken fence unit on top of them but with no pathing- meaning zombies can walk through it. And when you repair it, you change it back to a normal barrier unit. I did this but for something non-zombie related.

For thirdperson view look here http://forums.sc2mapster.com/resources/trigger-libraries/7277-third-person-shooter-tps-engine-download-if-you-need/ or search "third person" on the forum.
And for targeting and shooting look here http://forums.sc2mapster.com/resources/tutorials/1626-trigger-how-to-target-with-mouselook-tracelines/

You can't add nazis in SC2. It could be downloaded in germany where nazis aren't allowed in video games.
Expect a fast ban by blizzard for the map.
You can name it zombie survival. Seriously. Just cuz its based off nazi zombies it wont get banned.

Im not actually ganna have Nazi's lol, im just basing the game from Nazi Zombies.
I plan on calling it just Zombies, like on Call of Duty Black Ops

They will complain from the Moon!
