I cant fully answer the question as i havent played chesscraft that much. You will have to play the game to figure it out.
Now about the battlefield.
It allows you to warp units from the three races into the battle field.
The objective is to destroy the king fortress before the timer runs out. (and defend yours obviously).
You have the income of a single fully saturated base and can be increased x2 if you happen to build a refinery.
if your team destroy the opposite king fortress in the battlefield, you win the game. Thats the general idea.

Hello Zelda... you will have to check it out. :)
I've planned to upload some gameplay videos this week.
The Chess game is that... a Chess game no more and no less...
Wihle developing it, I found that it was more challenging and rewarding to fully support the Chess Rules, specially the checkmate and valid pieces movement.
Im not that wise to "fix" the actual chess game and decided to keep that part of the custom map intact, while focusing on making the game, fast and entretaining. (Check the in game main menu, the pawns promotion and the ending(s).)
Now, in the battlefield you will a very fast and simple to manage RTS game.
See also a view of the minimap where the chessboard and bfiled are clearly identified.
The game is played at its maximun potential in 2v2.
while one player focus to win at the chessboard, the other teammate focus on destroying the opposite team fortress... all this before your team timer runs out. (timer based on chess movement of pieces).
As someone who has played chess most of my life, I'd rather see something like Motherboard or Bughouse chess games than this.
Combining RTS with Chess doesn't really sit well with me given how the pacing of two are slightly off. Normal chess takes hours while Blitz is usually <2min games. In 2v2 I find it hard to see games lasting more than a couple of mins. The chess side will almost always be finished before the RTS side has a chance to get started.
In such case I'm sure that you will like the chess side of the game. Give it a try and let me know your comments.
Now, the RTS has been adjusted to be played side by side with the chess board in 2v2.
Timer is your enemy in the Battlefield as you need to be constantly playing chess to avoid a loose due timeout.
I acknowledge that is very difficult to join two games. But as now, it have proven to be playable.
In 1v1 chess + battlefield, the games have gone like this:
Battlefield attacks attempts to distract you from the chessboard in order to defend your fortress...
At the same time you are forced to move or the time will run out.
I'll provide a battllefield tutorial soon. On the meantime check a Kostics Trap demonstration in chess only mode.
(There are different ending cinematics as other aspects that I don''t want to present just yet... I want people to play it and find it out :) )
I noticed that the terrain for the chess board isn't flat. I strongly recommend making the terrain completely flat so that the circles aren't misaligned when moving. Also, you should consider having the pieces actually "move" to their location. By doing this you would artificially prolong the game. The movements would pause the game timer until the piece finishes moving. This would allow the RTS side more time to develop given the 1s (ish) move time for every move. Over the coarse of a 30-40move game that would be more than 1 min of extra game time.
Hello everybody.
Chess Wars is now available. Your feedback is highly appreciated.
Search for "CHESSWARS" (no spaces) in custom games and let the war begin.

Just curious... How is this different than chesscraft?
EDIT: Ah, I see that there is a "battlefield" below the chess board. Interesting concept, how does it work?
Great to be back and part of the community again!

Chesscraft is just a normal game of chess. So I guess you can add pieces to the board after the game starts? Interesting idea, I like it :D
