Chess Wars is the best chess game available in battle.net

Chess Wars is not only a 1v1 Chess Game, It can also be played 2v2 (or 2v1) in Chess + BattleField mode, that masterly merges Chess and Starcraft RTS gameplay.

In ChessWars + Battle field you have two basic objectives

a) Capture(?) the king, or...

b) Destroy the king fortress.

Search for "CHESSWARS" in custom games and let the war begin

Edit: Seems that the search functionality have some issues: Search for "+Chess +Wars" or simply "CHESSWARS" with no spaces for better results.

Chess Gameplay - Kostics Trap

MAP REGIONS AND DESCRIPTION

Chess Wars map is divided in two regions known as Chess board and battle field.

The actual chess game is played under the chess board region. The Star Craft RTS battle will occur only in the Battle Field Region.

Melee units are not allowed to leave the battle field, not even the flying units (Banshees & Mutalisks).

All the players have visibility over the chess board, while fog of war visibility rules apply to the battle field.

CHESS WARS LORE

"This place is a morgue. Whatever used to live in these ruins up an' died millions of years ago."

Xel'naga technology capable to destroy entire stars was discovered by two rival rogue spectres that call themselves the Kings.

The Kings were once teammates, and during that period, stolen blueprints of the psi-disrupter; Forced huge scientific crowds to enhance them, and once completed, were able to control a fraction of the swarm on their own.

With the control of the Zergs, They dominated with terror a whole sector of the galaxy and assaulted many, many planets.

Greed and suspicions’, converted the kings into arch-enemies, and aware of each faction power they are desperately looking for an additional edge in their armament race.

The Xel'naga technology was discovered by the King spies (and their counter spies), and both have landed in a nearby location of the Xil planet.

There's so much as stake, and the kings have such a deadly Human/Zerg army, that even two opposite and dissident Tal'darim's factions, agreed to make a fragile alliance with each King.

There’s nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide (even to a spectre), as their landing zone is covered on various electromagnetic fields that nullify any cloaking ability, mechanical o biologic.

Their fortresses are assembled and the play board is set.

NO PRISONERS WILL BE TAKEN AND A KING WILL FALL TONIGHT.

Game Updates

  1. In game Log is now available.
  2. While in check, King is highlighted in the miniboard.
  3. Battle field quick tips added to the main menu screen
  4. Minerals and Vaspene Gas are now collected by moving the chessboard pieces ( 1v1 or 1v2 modes )
  5. Resources harvesting remains automatic while playing in 2v2 mode
