I'm looking for ideas for a brand new map.
I have the time and skills needed to give life to a concept.
I want some innovative ideas; I will not create the bad clone of DotA or "just another TD".
If you have some strange/unusual/funny/mad/stupid ideas please let me know about it.

One is a puzzle map I started making, which was intended as a cooperative project that other people could add to, but I began another project and thus didn't have time for it.
I also made a rather unique, at least to my knowledge, map in StarCraft 1. The idea is that you have one of every unit in the game available to select, but you can only pick each unit once, and you must use every unit. After picking you are sent into an arena and last player (or last team) left alive gets a point for that round.
When all units have been used, the player, or team, with the most points wins.
I also had a timer that, when it expired, gave the round point to the player/team with highest kill score, to avoid people just running around indefinitely to avoid losing.
It's partially microing a specific unit well, using terrain well, and also if you play as a team you can complement each others' units, or if someone uses a very powerful unit one round you can use a bad unit that round and save better ones for later.
If you picked a worker unit you got lots of minerals and gas for that round, so you could build some or repair an ally.
I might have used things like pickups if they had been available in SC1.
The video explains the basics of gameplay. First to have 5 spaces controlled wins. I played the PSP version and it was really fun. I wanted to play the PS3 version but they turned off the servers so I can't play other people.
I'm thinking about doing a race map if your interested. None of my ideas are ever classified as top secret. I'm a terrainer but let me know if your interested :)
As the game starts, you can build a few towers up the top, Each tower only does 1 damage, but you can upgrade them to attack faster.
To upgrade, you must harvest down the bottom and defend your area from random zerg attacks (Only small) By training Marines.
Everytime you kill a unit up top, it splits into 2, the more the better because in the center is where it counts.
Everyone has theyre own "Sector" in a fort, and how ever many units you "Create", your hero kills them and adds to your scoreboard, and then you can level up your hero as each kill gives 1 Vespene.
There would be about 40-50 waves? I dunno.. Random idea.
I have the same problem; coming up with ideas. Perhaps check the idea thread sticky? I'd like to see a working turn based multiplayer battle arena. Something like final fantasy/pokemon. The problem is that those kinds of games generally require an RPG along with the multiplayer to build your charactor =/
I had an idea for a unique melee map. In which every I don't know lets say 3 minutes whomever had the most minerals would lose a unit(Most likely Harvester.) The every 3 minutes would start until hmm, I don't know 5-6 minutes into the game. The idea of course could be expanded on.

Well, I can offer two ideas.

A "turn-based" multi-player RPG that uses an action bar (similar to Chrono Trigger's) that lets the player choose their action when it fills up.

Make an RPG; I love Zerg Hunter, but I'd like to see some more good RPGs out there.
I am going to get trolled soooooooooooooo hard for this, but... Make an RTS game (which is quite different than melee).
