So just recently my current video card's fan died and I am looking to purchase a new one. Currently my price limit is right around 150. Just looking for suggestions and reasons why.
Radeon 6850 is by far the best for that price. I think it is a bit over your price limit ($160) but it is a really nice card, and has been rated by multiple sources as the best graphics card for it's price.
The card as a DVI, VGA, and HDMI port. The VGA can be used as a DVI, but not the other way around, so you need at least 1 HD connection if you are running 2 monitors.
EDIT: Also, depending on the card, you can replace the fan for far less. I think a new fan costs around $15, with a fairly pricey installation. I would do it yourself, as it isn't that hard to do. If the card is fried because the fan broke, obviously you are going to need to get a new card.
Why has nobody recommended the tried and true GTX 460? It goes for $160-$180 and it's pretty sweet. I have a GTX 560 ti though :) O I just remembered the 550 ti as well.
I have a ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
Total available graphics memory 3839 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 1024 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 2815 MB
Display adapter driver version 8.791.0.0
Primary monitor resolution 1920x1080
DirectX version DirectX 10
It can run Crisis 2 at full and not get very hot.
Only cost me $120.
Bought it at Centercom Australia.
Overclock settings work best with=
GPU =850MHz
MEM =1200MHz
FAN = 45%
hardly ever goes above 50 degrees and that is after playing for 6 hours with full setting on everything.
Check on ebay for GTX 460 deals. If you get two of them, you're looking good. Spent $275 on ebay for a pair of new GTX 460 1GB non-SE cards that normally cost $180 each (the best of the crop, basically - SE means it is partially disabled, and 768MB means it is a slightly inferior version, but if you have a plain old 1GB, you've got the good version).
Dual GTX 460 1GB non-SE cards perform nearly as well as a GTX 580, which is a $500 card, and significantly better than the GTX 480. Take that as you will.

HD 5770, I think it's the best you can get for your current budget. And it would last you a year two for sure I bet...
