Nice website.
I have some spare time and I'm interested in AI and gaming so editing the SC2 AI is luring for me. Maybe I will give it a try. I'm a master student computer science specialising in language design. We exercise a bit in building compilers.
How many people are currentely interested in SC2 editing at the moment? I see only a handful of people on this website, and this is the site concerning SC2 editing. So is that everybody?
Maybe it would be neat to create a precompiler for .galaxy. This would enable the output of more sensible syntax error messages. There could be type checking. Now language features could be added.
Anyways I haven't even messed around with galaxy yet. I'm stil trying to figure out what files to edit to get any effect on the in-game AI.
well we are a small group of people working on it, but we have a bunch of knowledge, and have completed quite a bit. If you are interested in doing a precompiler for more advanced error checking, id def ask you consider adding it to our MilkyWay Editor, as it would help out alot :) w are just beggining to get our documentation and other things setup on this site, so please spread it to whomever you can, and welcome to sc2mapster :)
I created the majority of the backend code for this website and myself and others have worked on the content.
A lot of us hang out on IRC on irc.freenode.net in the #sc2mapster channel, so if you want to converse in real-time, that'd be the best way.
A syntax checker et al for .galaxy would be nice. I've even thought of implementing one myself and then allowing pastes (at http://paste.sc2mapster.com/) be able to be syntax-checked. Would be interesting.
Welcome to the site! In addition to what sank and ckk already said, we've got a lot of the API already documented, but nothing is ever complete. Feel free to join us in the IRC and help out as well.
I am happly that you like the website. Currently, there's a small community interested in SC2 editing here. Your idea of a precompiler for .galaxy sounds intriguing and could enhance the development process. Good luck with your SC2 AI exploration!
This is amazing , I'm a computer science master's student with a passion for AI and gaming. I'm interested in editing SC2 AI and exploring the small community around it. i am in this galaxy to improve syntax and add features like type checking. Still learning how to edit galaxy files effectively for in-game AI.
Thanks
