So I personally have always just used Windows movie maker to create videos/trailers for my games. I upgraded to Windows 7 a few months ago and I honestly cannot even comprehend this version of WMM.
My question is, does anyone have any recommendations for a program that is as easy to use as Pre-Windows 7 WMM but offers the same or more room for creativity.
This is the go-to name I've always heard when it comes to video editing without using WMM. I've never tried it, but from what I've heard the one big issue with it is that it's a bit like the SC2 editor: a million options but pretty hard to learn for a newbie without any help. You won't be getting that and making your new trailer in 10 minutes. It's still probably your best option, though.

Nah, thats nonesense. While Sony Vegas has a decent amout of options, the basics are almost as easy to understand as WMM, as they are almost identical, just set up in a way that they allow for more stuff to to be done with them. And comparing Sony Vegas to the SC2 editor is just wrong, Sony Vegas isnt that powerfull. Its a good option for people who want to make some cool videos, but dont want to get into the really advanced stuff. Basically, aside from cutting, which it can do phenominally well, it can do everything alittlebit, but nothing outstandigly well, which sucks for professionals, but makes Sony Vegas a great allrounder option for casuals.
Sony Vegas also has some technical limitations which makes it a no-go for professionals and even casuals should look out for those, seeing how Sony Vegas wont necessarily swallow every format you throw at it.
While there are some quite cool functions in Sony Vegas that take a while to master, like alittlebit more advanced compositing, that stuff isnt required if you just want to cut together videos.
I guess you could learn the very basics of Sony Vegas without a problem by watching a 10 minute tutorial or toying around with it for 20 minutes. After that you will have the basics down which will allow you to cut together stuff in a much much more powerfull and efficient way than WMM. The rest is just practice and more toying around/tutorials, but not required for cutting.

I'd recommend Sony Vegas as well, but it is quite an investment if you're just looking to make a few sc2 videos.
