There are very few single player campaigns on sc2mapster and I want to ask / wonder why there are so few.
Propably main reason is same as earlier. Battle.net system doesn't support single player content really.
I have worked my own campaign since release of SC2 and learned how much work it takes to make even basic things. This may be one reason why people want to make just one map instead of campaign.
I didn't mod during Warcraft3 so I don't actually know how much people created single player content back then. At least I have feeling that there was much more content. (?)
It is bad thing that games are more complex nowadays since editing or even making "just some basic suff" requires lot of knowledge. For example all kind of actor stuff is really hard to understand.
There are a number of reasons why there are few community-created campaigns. The short version is that (1) the vast majority of all projects are never completed, (2) the playtime-oriented custom map system rewards long, replayable, multiplayer gameplay, so the creation of maps with such gameplay is incentivized, (3) map loading works in single player but not multiplayer, so there is less incentive to make maps that fewer people will see, (4) and campaigns require an enormous investment of time.
Warcraft 3 had much more single-player content for sure. Blizzard gave us this thing called Campaign Editor, which was a simple but effective way of linking multiple maps into a proper campaign. I probably had (still have) about 20 of those things, fan-made campaigns, and I would totally geek out and play through all of them plus the Blizzard campaigns in chronological order. Good times.
Of course, that's when Blizzard allowed us to have local content/local hosting and everyone's mission in life wasn't making the front page of The System. As for the complexity of the editor, I think the editor is great and has a ton of potential, but with the whole custom game system thing I also feel it's kind of going to waste.
So basically, the same old story you've read a million times during the past year and a half.
Basically everything Jademus and Jones have said so far. Campaigns are more work (also because of the multiple map thing), not supported in SC2 yet, and quicker to play through. War3 had a lot more single-player content, I also had those geek moments of playing through a bazillion fan-made campaigns, and I also love single player stuff.
I think there's definitely still room for a good campaign here though, and intend on setting up a team to release something kickass on the marketplace at some point.

A bit random topic :) Any comments?
