PUBLIC RELEASE ON EU AND NA SERVERS December 16, 2011
War of the 12 Kingdoms, the wildly popular map by Mr. MoneyBags and Edited to it's final form by King_Leopold on Warcraft 3 is now entering development. The map is being terrained by Milpheus and Coding By Shock on NA Server.
Some footage of the gameplay in alpha testing:
A terrain overview:
The project will be officially hosted at www.12kingdoms.net, and is part of the projects @ BrokenAlliances.com, the official home of Broken Alliances, War of the Lost Kingdoms, Rise of Empires and War of the 12 Kingdoms - All planned Warcraft Conversions.
The map shares the same circular format as it's predecessor with a few changes, there is now both and inner and outer circle, proving for more diverse base entries and army traveling. This was actually the biggest flaw in 12k on wc3, it was just circular in nature. I recorded a video clip to show the amount of activity we expect, this was with 10 people in game and without any creeps in place at the time, so activity will be very high in this map.
Gameplay:
12 Players, 12 Bases. Players fight for minerals, each kill grants a bounty. The goal of the game is to kill your enemies and make alliances to do so. When not fighting an opponents army, take part in multiple quests throughout the maps many areas of exploration.
Each base allows for upgradable units spawned every one minute, armor, attack and ability upgrades will be featured as well.
Other Details:
- 12 Unique races, all World of Warcraft Models used in the unit creation in this map.
- The same team who made this map on WC3 will be making it on SC2
- Quests, Quests, Quests! Fight and complete several brand new WC style quests while competing for the spoils from those quests. Equip your hero's with items that drop upon death and kill the crap outta each other for them!
- Quests are base locations, the successful completion of a quest objective will create a vassal base where a 13th race can be spawned, the mighty Ents!
- The warcraft feel to a starcraft map!
Developers:
Team Lead - Shock (Current Editor of Broken Alliances and War of the 12 Kingdoms on WC3)
Terrainer - Milpheus
All good points, i agree. The drop bug is actually on blizzard per our understanding, we've spent scores of hours trying to fix it and haven't really moved past it since. It's a horribly ruining experience to have 12 willing people want to play with you on hundreds of occasions, only for them to drop before playing. If you wait in a lobby for more than two minutes it increases your chances to drop.. which sucks when putting together games on bnet 2.0. Fixing the drop bug would fix ALL of our problems. The rest are easy fixes. We go to fix the drop bug, in one place you look it says "you must preload units" in another it says "no don't preload units", and the third place tells us to throw salt over our left shoulder while in lobby. Just too hard to get people to truly try, so it's hard to convince the programmer to add new features.
I'm super close to stopping sc2 over this issue altogether, which is a fairly big deal because I host for bunker wars, broken alliances, 12 kingdoms, risk, randomtd, zoator, etc... There is a 10 page thread on bnet, there have been phone calls, etc.
Nope, another blizzard issue. the map has three mods that it depends on, eu wont allow me to publish them under the same name, changing the name breaks the map... hard to have a great map on bnet 2.0
We would have worked to completion already if we believed the map had a fair chance.
Ok, it had been weeks since the release on NA, i am starting to think you guys stopped wroking on trying to get it to EU. how is the progress going and when can u approximate the release date.
Best Regards, Me (Read my Name and u will know who is "Me" :D )@Malpheus: Go

This looks really great! Are the custom units from WoW?
When we can see it on EU servers?
@DEFILERRULEZ: Go
look like we need an intelligrunt euro to upload it - map + 3 mods or got to get another copy on eu
yes they are- all 18 races and about 180 models. Now that the WC3 music soundtrack and building starting to go in gives it a real nice feel

I'd recommend changing the UI to be more like the Warcraft one.
