Just little heads up for all dota remaker. Valve is the second best PC game developer imo
Also this one for fun
Your only now finding this out? It's not a rumor. On DotA's official site, www.playdota.com, IceFrog(the current mastermind behind the map) has been working with Valve to make DotA a stand alone game for quite some time now. And aside from that the game has also spawned stand alone clones (League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth are dota rip off's).
I would have thought this would have been more or less common knowledge for anyone interested in DotA by now...
If they added a decent map editor without any of the limitations of SC2 and with more features, I'd be completely sold.
It'd be pretty easy for Valve to win me over, they've been a much cooler company than Blizzard for ages now.
Steam integration, typically amazing Valve pricing, Source engine, free, continuous content updates....
As compared to Bnet 2.0 and $60 with $120 more in expansions.
True, I despise DotA and everything it stands for, but it's not like I play the original game when I buy for custom maps.

Expansions won't be $60 each, more like $30 or $40.
No League of Legends is being done by some of the original makers of DotA. IceFrog has already confirmed that he is working for Steam on making DotA in there own team. Not sure if he is the leader of the team or not.
I would say Heroes of Newerth is a clean Rip-off of dota where they practically just make their own version of DoTa heroes.
League of Legend is more of a rip-off of the concept itself, but with additions like vision blockers like in SC2 and more unique heroes.
Demi-god was a failed attempt of using the DoTa concept.
And there is more games out there already released or in the making that utilize the "Online Multiplayer Arena" game concept.
Yes it was. But I don't believe IceFrog took Guinsoo's map. Someone else took it before him. I think his name was something like 'Eul'. I don't exactly know though. Look it up if you want.

LoL -> original maker of Dota
Dota is rip off of AoS. i.e. Heroes controlling waves of units.
Every FPS is a rip off. Every RTS is a rip off. Every Motion gaming is a rip off. Every stealth game is a rip off. Every MMORPG is a rip off.
Rip off in gaming, where are thou?
I wonder if they will shut down HoN. Well I guess HoN could shut down without Valve's help. xp
Those are just two of things I found by doing a simple search on his blog. This isn't recent news, you guys are way late to the party if you think your getting the inside scoop on the matter. Any true DotA fan/player would have known this. Like I said before, with all the people wanting a new DotA for SC2, I would have expected them to know that there was already a stand alone game in production, with several other stand alone DotA clones already out there.
FFS stop calling them dota clones, they are AoS style games, not dota clones.
Have you ever seen Heroes of Newerth or League of Legends? They are, no joke, literal clones of dota with better graphics.
http://i25.tinypic.com/2nitt20.jpg Looks like a re-skinned WarCraft 3 to me man. Almost exact same interface and everything. The minimap also majorly resembles DotA's. As for League of Legends it also resembles DotA being that is of the same type of game (AoS), but they at least did try to somewhat re-invent the UI. HoN was honestly just a complete copy paste with maybe one or two health bars etc moved around here and there from all the screenshots I viewed. These games we're spawned from DotA, you cant deny that. Thus they are clones of it. If they we're to be original then I would not say these things but they honestly aren't. The most they could do is create new heroes and oh look I just found tiny:
I don't think I need to even explain LoL just because Pen Dragon as well as Guinsoo are working on it. It's bound to have countless similarities with dota, right down to the heroes. But just incase: http://www.leagueoflegends.com/champions/19/warwick_the_blood_hunter Bloodseeker/Luci
All AoS maps are bound to be similar I understand that, but these are more or less dota clones. That is why I call them that, even if Guinsoo and Pen Dragon are working on LoL.

Oh, I dont :P He worked for Valve quite a while but it hasn't been confirmed as dota project recently
Isn't Icefrog already working on League of Legends?
Expansions won't be $60 each, more like $30 or $40.
@tordecybombo: Go

Heroes of Newerth is the best.
There's been clones of DOTA before. I particularly like Demigod.
IceFrog is a producing team leader at valve - so he was able to get the people he need/want in his team to make a standalone dota
he announced it a year back or so on his blog iirc
That's old new...
Valve is knows of that. They also hired Counter Strike maker back in he days.
IMO, Valve is now better developer then blizzard.
Icefrog isnt working on league of legends. First DoA maker is. Guinsoo. IceFrog took Guinsoo's DotA map.
I think DotA was firstly created in SC...

Eww icefrog is the biggest douchebag of all time.
After having beta tested for him in the past, i can officialy say that i am disapointed in valve today.
First dota maker was eul, on RoC, just sayin It went : eul - guinsoo - icefrog(the douchebag)
DotA is an AoS (Aeon of Strife, people need to stop calling maps like these dota, because they are not dotas) and yes, AoS was on starcraft.
The news post about this needs to get it's facts straight;
No, it is not a rumor & yes Icefrog is the leader of a Valve team: http://www.playdota.com/forums/blogs/icefrog/264/great-news--dota-fans/

Right, Eul...
Yes its AoS type of map xD. lol
Dunno why some people are calling AoS type of maps DotA...
Because they are stupid :O
