I don't see this helping anyone's map. Since like you said the people dislike waiting because modern television has given people ADD. Anyways once the map moves to the next one nobody will go search for the previous map of the week's actual map since it will require them to wait. Unless of course you create a loading screen that says to play previous map of the weeks go to our channel "MotW"(or whatever you want to call it) and have a list of previous map of the weeks on the loading screen.
How to use my thing:
Ctr+F "Map initialization" and delete events, put run trigger action in the end of map of the week trigger.
Ctr+F "Pre-Load" and cut Pre-loads to before the map of the week trigger.
Ctr+F "Time Elapsed" and delay all "After X second" triggers by 12 seconds.
And who is going to change everything and follow this tutorial? If I have to do that, I might not join the map of the week myself (too complicated). And besides, there's a lot more changes than just that (I just didn't think yet). The fact is, one simple change that might bug the whole map is enough for the mapper to feel unsure if the delay is causing any bugs. He will want to test it. He will need players to test it. He doesn't want to search for players just to make changes on his map to send to the map of the week project. It's easier to just give up.
I'm still defending the simplicity. Don't change the mappper's design. Don't require lots of changes that might break the map because one day someone will screw up. Keep it simple, so simple that the mapper doesn't even need to open his map. He just have to submit it the way it is! No changes necessary.
(Now its up to him if he wants to make any change or promote the project on his loading screen. Nothing that the publishers will check).

I would advice the mapper to use his loading screen to promote his own map as much as he can, so that, after 1 week he has a full chat channel with people ready to play his map. But that's totally up to the mapper.
By the way, you shouldn't have advertised this before it's about to be release, it won't do us any good :S.
No Worries. We have dozens of members to keep bumping those threads and opening new ones close to the release date. I opened the threads to attract even more mappers right now. More mappers, more we are from the release date. ;)
Also, Sixen could add a countdown to the release date on the first page. And I'll PM everybody to play the map on the first day.
"I wish someone would do that for melee maps as well." - Ragoo (TeamLiquid)
I added a new point on the OP to attract the Melee mappers:
Melee maps aren't popular enough to keep the Map of the Week at the top. But, I see no problem on having your melee map inside an 1v1Obs map, such as iCJug.
Well im not gona particiate but I still strongly suggest NOT to allow maps that remind/are melee maps (if you had custom races that might be an exception).
Melee is popular enough as it is...it really does not need advertising and I feel like making people more aware of different custom games is part of the point of this...not to play MELEE again (and ICjug maps are blizzards maps right? make them yourself atleastp pfff...)
edit sidenote* I feel like every post rodrigo makes feels like he just wants to be popular...

I've made iCJug maps with user-made melee maps (iCCup). If the community does not want 1v1Obs maps on the Map of the Week, then there won't be. I just had that suggestion to please not only the mod makers, but also the authors of melee maps. :(
And no, I do not want to be popular. It's rude comments like this that makes me want to give up this whole idea and leave the map-making community instead of stressing myself helping a game that I clearly wasn't welcome.

His loading screen? So the loading screen on his actual map? That would be pointless because the map won't really get any plays because nobody will want to wait or are you talking about the MotW loading screen? I thought you didn't want to keep changing that or was that some other custom image or something?
Although I thank you for adding my map to the list I would ask you to remove the "complex" from the mode of it. Kinda don't want people getting the wrong idea :)
Also if it would be better I can just remove the other mode from the triggers. Its not finished yet anyways (although Diplomacy mode IS finished and working, I have been evolving the project, although not in the last few days due to frustration over "the system", so although it works just fine and is technically finished some of the stuff in there is work in progress - ie making the research system dialog based instead of from a structure).

People can just invite each other when they want to play.
Normally i would say yes, but this system wouldnt help its popularity at all. People already know about it its just that there is usually nobody in the lobby or chat channe lol. Now if this map of the week system involved playing the already published map then i would be all for it :). Just my opinion, not trying to start an arguement or nething.

Oh ya, btw, I support this and have 2 maps that I'm working on to contribute. Lane Runner and Phazed
Cool. I'll wait the maps to be 100% done before adding them to the map pool. :)
@RodrigoAlves: Go
Posted by Trigor: So like the title says, play mine and I'll play yours.
This is part of the Map of the Week project where map makers play each other's maps to promote the Map of the Week. You might want to join us. :)

----------Lol, you're funny dude.
BTW: Lane Runner is Up and Running. I'm still making changes but it's totally playable and last I looked was on page 4.
Alright. Added to the list.
The trigger should be a copy paste thing, that better not intefere.
The best, imo, is an alert message with a text saying "cool project thanks for contributing see previous MotW maps at F12". That's all.
By the way, you shouldn't have advertised this before it's about to be release, it won't do us any good :S.
The alert message is on the OP. You can check it out. :)

We need a map that will be played over and over in which case ;)

There was no reason to add that. He has an idea, that a lot of us support... keep these kinda comments to yourself, they don't belong in this thread.

Count me in!

So when will we be voting on maps? Do you have a timeplan in mind or something?
Also, plz give us at least two votes.
And how do they know if the majority of players on Battle.net do not access forums?
We will first vote for publishers. But, right now, there's only 2 publishers on the list. I'm waiting a little for more people to join the project.
