I work for a company that has a crowdsourcing website called CloudSpokes. We do development for all sorts of projects in a variety of fields, but one community we haven't engaged yet is video game developers. We want to change that!
Myself and a few other colleagues want to show the big wigs at CloudSpokes that there is a vibrant and excited group of developers in the video gaming community that are ready to make some cash and be a part of something exciting. By signing up and participating in this and the other challenges we posted yesterday you can get in on the ground floor of something we truly believe is going to be amazing.
A lot of you mod for the fun of it and for the challenge, but why not make a few bucks for it in the process? We're offering $175 in prizes to people who participate in this challenge!
This SC2 Custom Map challenge, along with several others that you'll find on CloudSpokes by filtering the Platform on 'Gaming', is part of our proof of concept for Video Game Development. I will be available to answer any questions you might have regarding these challenges, Cloudspokes in general, or anything at all really. We're excited to be bringing you this challenge and with your help we can make sure that there are many more like it in the future.
Any reason I shouldn't register a few hours before the deadline when I'm sure that map is done instead of now when I'm uncertain about availability of my time and interest?
You can register to 'Watch' or 'Register'. It is pretty normal for a few to register and not submit. No problem at all with that. At the end even if it isn't "done" submit it anyway. You never know!
Same question. In my map i currently develop multimap system and one of maps may be form your logo, would it count? :)
or if i just place it in circle arena?
Thanks! Wasn't really all that sure what to expect, especially considering I decided to cut a few planned features because I simply ran out of time.
Feel bad for those who entered but didn't even get past 75 %, I can understand why they do it that way though. Otherwise if only one person entered a contest with a submission of some smiley faces in a text file and a video submission of
and they would have to pay that person whatever the first place prize money was shown as.
On another note, wonder what draktok/twodie were working on but didn't turn in, already looked at what the submitted people did.
Just a FYI for all those who participated in this contest, those who might want to participate in a contest in the future, they(Cloud Spokes) were extremely fast about the prize money, think I only waited 3-4 days to receive payment by mail. If they have one again I'd recommend all interested parties to participate.
Howdy folks!

I can't wait to see what you all can create!
Ought to be an intellectually stimulating exercise.
Since this is not related to melee map development, moving this to General Chat; it will receive more exposure there, as well.
What's stopping me from slapping your logo in my pre-existing game?
Member since 2010. Made the -The Thing- [Revival] game. Nostalgic of the WC3 days.

Nothing, and that would be okay. Depending on how well you slap it in there would determine how well you do.

Let me clarify. What if I slap your logo in a game I've been developing for months now?

As long as it's original work (obv in your case it is) that's fine. Especially since if you never mentioned it.. I would never know :x But yes, okay.

Yes. Go for it.
Sooo, where's my reward? :D

Should explain why, I did a bit of digging around yesterday to find out more about how cloud spokes works.
Edit:
Thanks for posting about this by the way danqdude, hopefully it isn't the last.
@Deadzergling: Go grats with 1st place!
The rest of us didn't even qualify. Ha.

That is quite a difference, doubtful they saw that though.
