Wait your taking over? This makes less and less sense, No offense, but you havent really been an "active" Moderator for nearly a year. Thats like putting EW or DarkRev in charge, sure your good moderators, but You are not really active... lol
no, but i'm active on two major curse sites, and work for curse.
And the truth is, mapster runs itself with the current staff. The moderators right now do an amazing job.
with that said we are still in the middle of contacting people right now to see whats going to happen, on a personal level I want sixen to stay. This whole thing caught me by surprise, Zelda had to catch me on skype when it first started ( there has been a backstage thread which we have all been active in for a few weeks now) .

Yeah i would rather sixen stay myself, because if nothing else, He lets alot of things slip :P, I dont want some Immature Site leader, who just cares about making more money, Sixen is more about the community, and it shows.
Btw, Curse is a bunch of idiots....
They get money from advertising, if the site is 85% Map Makers, and everyone with Green map maker status, gets ads removed Then theres 85% of the profit.
Also, Theres Only 1 freakin banner on the main page without map maker... soo this is curses fault, it is their stupidity...
Now the low traffic, is due partially to blizzard, and partially to curse, for only promoting Sc2Mapster, to have a valid mapping community, you must support multiple places, We are mappers we dont just go to 1 place.. but since mapster has drained the other places, there is no where else to go, so anyone who has a dispute with the site just quits, therefore lowing total traffic.
People circulate to sites. :P
But yeha i got off topic for a sec, either way I hope sixen stays, he might not do much these days, since its pretty much Automated, even without the site mods, aside from 1 or 2 topics being closed, :P. And WTE hah. But atleast he doesnt abuse his power, and let his personal beliefs get in the way like sooo many other site leaders I have known.

No, he works for Curse (on Diablofans iirc), someone else is taking over. At least we got an undercover man there :P
Edit: Got ninja'ed for 20 minutes and didn't realize
haha, Well As for me, I am loyal to the community :P Though sixen is really cool.
I want the community to prosper, Though is sixen leave and makes a new site, expect me to migrate over there.
As I have always maintained that my loyality lies with Sixen, do not expect me to support this website if he is no longer in charge.
It is pretty weak to call the moderating amazing when there is very little to moderate.
You misunderstand. Its not just about `moderating` the site and its forums, but also maintaining activity/interest and keeping our knowledge base at the very top. In that sense, the moderation team is amazing as Molsterr put it because the collective whole(in large part the moderators) have shaped Sc2mapster.
No ... Mapster was poorly orgranised from the beginning. This much is obvious when you are running on a flawed platform. This issue has been discussed by myself with quite a few people for going on two years, however, because Curse is ultimately in charge we never recieved any support.
A good comparison would be to compare Warcraft III (Mapster) to Starcraft II. Both engines do the same thing, one was well designed before it was ever written, with a huge forward thinking on behalf of the devs (sc2), the other was not.
Mapster was not designed with this type of community in mind. If we want a forum any forum would be sufficient. We need more tools which can not exist on the curse platform without a significant investment on their behalf.
Oh noes! I feel your pain Sixen, investing so much time into something, voluntarily, and then getting "fired" is no fun :(
However, If you ever decide to make a new community, make it more compressed and focused. I think this community suit was a bit too big for the size of the community and feels a bit outdated overall (design and content wise). There are so much more clever services out there that are not incorporated into this site, like sharing files, resources etc.
Keep it light! Keep it tight!
Anyway, thank you for your investment of time/money/ideas/efforts into this. It has helped me a lot.
They haven't done any maintenance on the site for like 2 years......
Have to defend Curse on this point for the sake of clarity for a bit. We've had two or three Curse coders work on the site for roughly a year now. It's not a lot of stuff you'll notice, but they have been doing background upgrades, coding clean-up and smaller additions like the like-system.
It would suck if you can't at least be a moderator anymore, Sixen you've provided great material to this website with your time, Hard Work, and Assets. Sad to hear they want someone else to run things, as I can't think of anyone who could do as Good a Job as you except maybe some of the Great Moderators and/or members. I hope it's not gonna be some OUTSIDER who may not understand or even care about this COMMUNITY.
If Curse handles this badly, I Hope you and the Mods can Backup most of whats here at the moment it happens IF they FAIL us. Then are able to provide Details on the New Site Here, until most know where the REAL SC2Mapster is at. Good Luck with what ever happens, maybe CURSE can just get someone to Focus on the AD Revenue Generation and keep you where you are. That way both needs are met and hopefully all party's will be happy then.

Blizzard Fan since Starcraft. The Single Player story is AMAZING IMO, I can't wait for the Expansions. In Warcraft 3 I only enjoy the Custom Maps scene (& Blizzards...
Sad to hear this. Hope you the best of luck in the future if the transition ends up taking place. Mapster is a great forum, without it I wouldn't have even gone through with mapping. Thank you for making it all possible.
"...recently informed by Curse that because Mapster was not making enough profit..."
Curious, how was Mapster supposed to make a profit in the first place?
no, but i'm active on two major curse sites, and work for curse.

That I believe is obvious - the fact that the majority of people follow Sixen and not this website.
IMO, Curse has signed their own death sentence in regards to Mapster, if they choose to replace Sixen.
Without Sixen there will be no advanced map makers left, without them there is no knowledge, and without knowledge, there is no mapster.
It is still a bit of a waiting game atm guys, when we know more we can plan what to do from there, Sixen just wanted everyone to know his position.

i guess, I mean, I would say that certain figures of the mapping community have done the majority, but the moderators have organized it a bit.

well dogmai i think we both can agree, that if Curse is not getting enough money its their own stupidity that is causing it.

Sixen if you do create a new community, that can actually adjust the site, and create new site features, I would be rather excited about it.

what?
Sixen.
No.
Don't leave me <3
props to props masters..
have fun have fun , wherever you are
transitions are always the most exiting of times, and trying times .. but one must evolve, all .. everything.. (why we call it "life")
