They just took every place where my name was and switched it with their own! (trust me I know - I played it to check)
It is -exactly- the same as my map and even has Skizot's custom units that I used.
I won a contest because of this map! I also stopped updating it because it was completely finished. It peaked at #2 for the first week of beta (after they released the regular custom lists that we have now). Now this faggot comes in and steals it!
Every version of every map I have ever made has been localized
but don't give me that bullshit about how its anything but horrible!
The guy erased my name and the names of my map testers and even Skizot's name! He just scratched it all out, wrote his name instead, uploaded it to sc2mapster and sc2, and is now profiting off of MY IDEA!
These 1.8 million people who play starcraft will never know that I made this #5 most popular map!
and for the record, the only thing that i am pissed/depressed about is the fact that they completely erased my name from the map and put their own in its place as though i had nothing to do with it. so these hundreds of thousands of people will never know that i worked my ass off for two days (and then some — ask my friends who helped me test it) constantly on this map.
I suggest sending a mail to blizzard or something, I'm sure they can look into it and perhaps even 'protect' it on your request or remove this one. Map stealing happened alot on wc3 etc aswell.
Uh well, could you bother answering the question anyway? Did you or Did you NOT lock your map? Because if you didn't even bother locking your map you don't have a right to complain, you should have seen it a mile away that ANY joe could open your map and mess with it as they wanted.
Then you are incredibly naive. You reckon insurance companies couldn't care less about whether you locked your stolen car or not?
Really, I'm not saying it doesn't suck, but there's little point in me saying "OH GOD IT SUCKS SO MUCH FOR YOU". I'm trying to be objective and at least get information out of you so people can debate about what step you should take.
That's the same kind of absurd rationalization that Americans use far too often. Its the same as saying that its poor people's fault that they are poor. You call me naive? I call you an ignorant asshole.
Not sure who you're trying to take a stab at, but you realize I'm not American, right? And really, it's not the same. Obviously the underlying problem in both cases is the thieves. But as a rational human being, you should realize that this problem exists and that it is currently not within your power to change it - hence you should take every realistic precaution to prevent such things from happening to you. Locking your car is such a precaution.
I'm not saying it isn't stupid that a map/car needs to be locked or else it'll get ripped off, but I am saying it's odd to leave it unlocked and then complain *when* it gets ripped off. And heck, it's just downright stupid to assume that this won't make a difference at all to Blizzard/an insurance company. That's not how the world works, no matter how bad we'd want it to.
You can call me a lot of things mate, but not ignorant.
Well, i think the way he's taking offense to the question it's safe to assume he didn't lock his map.
On another note, how come every time one gets mad at another the latter becomes an American? It's like whenever you do something bad or something, people immediately assume you're American. American is the new bad word! Illegal immigrants should just piss everyone off instead of trying to cross the border.
But hey, least this thread is on the front page now. Some people will be able to spread the news and stuff on Bnet, although i don't think people care too much about who made the maps.
If you're going to flame instead of answering the question "Did you lock your map?" then I believe the implied answer is "No, I am a twat and did not lock my map".
hundreds of thousands of ppl will play this map, less than 0.1% of them will care about who made it...
If you are making maps for the sole purpose of lionization then you need to rethink your purpose of map making. Besides, a generic game like turret defense game is not worth aggravating over, especially if u didn't protect your map.

Proof that its mine: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=125636

Can someone do something?
You should backtrace this guy and report him to the cyber police. Also, lock your maps next time, or consequences will never be the same.
Seriously though - this guy might've just done the "localized for all clients" thing, assuming that wasn't in your original map.

WHY GOD WHYYYYY
I am going to cut myself
Did you lock your map?
write an email to blizzard
That isn't going to stop anyone, you know.
You can report copyright infringement on Blizzard's website. This will probably count, so try that.
@DarkRevenantX: Go
No, but it's relevant information. If you didn't lock it and complain to Blizz about how it's stolen, they're a lot more likely to /facepalm and tell you to stfu than if you tell them you locked the map and someone cracked the locking system and thén stole it.
I dont' believe that for a second

You have to republish a map if you have downloaded it and want to host it, but it is not in the popular list.
Then you are incredibly naive. You reckon insurance companies couldn't care less about whether you locked your stolen car or not?

Comparing locking a map in a game to poor people is pathetic.
Perhaps you can tell blizzard to ban the user who uploaded the map?
Thats the only thing you could do I think.
Blizzard should have a "Report" button next to each 3rd Party Map, so it can alert Blizzard of map stealing.
