I have big plan for a mod but have no experience with the galaxy editor, I'm going to describe what I want to achieve and I'm greatful for any suggestions that could help me with my goals.
I want to create a map with two playable custom factions. First of all I want to be able to name the two factions.
One of the factions should function like this:
You start with a vehicle (one of the trucks seen in the campaign, where can I find it?), this vehicle can deploy into a command center (this would function like when a Zerg drone mutates into a Hive).
To build additional buildings you have to select the command center, click the buildmenu and then choose a structure to create. This faction don't need any MCVs to construct buildings, instead it uses the command center to construct buildings.
The first and only structure you can create is the Supply depot (instead of controlling how many units you can build the supply depot in this map regulates how many building you can build.
The supply depot unlocks the barracks and the refinery. The refinery is now a normal building and comes with one MCV. The refinery can be placed on flat ground and doens't have anything with vespin gas to do. In fact, vespin gas is not a resource on this map. The MCV that comes with the refinary can harvest minerals and can drop them of at the refinary. More MCVs can be built by the Factory. The factory is unlocked after the refinary and barracks are built.
The Sensor Tower have the same recuirements as the Factory. The sensor tower adds the minimap to the UI.
In short what i wanna learn:
Rename the factions
Remove a faction
Create custom factions for the map
Rename buildings and units
Add/remove abilities to units and structures
Edit the UI
Tech Tree
Truck (can deploy into comman center)
->
Command Center (constructs buildings)
->
Supply Depot (regulates the number of buildings you can build)
->
Barracks (where you buy marines)
&
Refinery (comes with one MCV)
->
Factory (where you buy MCVs)
&
Sensor Tower (adds minimap to UI)
--
Barracks -> Marines (armed with assault rifle, no stimpack ability)
Factory -> MCVs (harvests minerals and dropes them of at Refinery)
About the factions/races, there's an tab for races in the data editor (hotkey F7). In the data editor there is a drop down menu called ''Data Type''. You'll find races under ''Advanced''. To change names, right click the unit in the data editor and choose "modify object'' (hotkey ctrl-M) and a menu should pop up. To add abilities to a unit, go to the ''ability - abilities +'' field. From there you can add/remove abilities. About the UI, you can make a custom UI I think, since there is also a ''Game UI Data'' in the data editor, but I don't know anything about that. You can also make a custom UI from dialogs, by triggers.

It would be superduper awesome if you could write a step by step guide on how to achieve what you have done so far. I'm very inexperienced with the editor and I have a lot of learning to do.
It died way earlier before that, CnC Generals being the first good one and CnC red alert 3 killing it, After the ressuruction came CnC 3 and KW and then CnC4 TT totally killed it again.
Also, Doesnt a CnC map cross the Copyright/EULA someway? Not that i actually read it, Tough.
And about the question of the Truck. I believe its called "Troops Transport". or armoredpersonellcarrier.
youtube is your best friend... simply follow the online tutorials. All of what you are trying to accomplish can be done using the data editor. before creating maps focus on creating the UI and DATA for the units.... that way you can save it as a base map for all of your maps in a campaign.
Do you know any good tutorials? I have fallowed a few and I thought I'd learnt how to do what i want to accomplish but the result was negative.
But you're right, I will take a look on the tube again.

Ok.
I've been trying to give the Armed Transport Carrier de abilitiy to mutate into a hatchery but it doesnt work!
Ive given it the drone ability (morph into zerg building) and I've added an ability button using the commandcard. What is left to do?
Also both the player one and player two starts with a APC but the game still ends as soon as i start it. Whats up with that?

Yes, you can. It only affects the units. Altough it overides the normal melee units.

This is interesting, pleas let me know more about this, is it legal to make tiberian map for example?
Right now I'm only interested in recreating the cnc gameplay, surely that must be legal.

youtube is your best friend... simply follow the online tutorials. All of what you are trying to accomplish can be done using the data editor. before creating maps focus on creating the UI and DATA for the units.... that way you can save it as a base map for all of your maps in a campaign.
