Or you could try pressing the spacebar once in the rank field - that might work too. That way it's not totally blank so the rank won't default to "Recruit".
There is one way to remove "Rank" from a unit's user-interface. In the data editor, select the unit and select the Unit - Attributes field. Check Structure. Then select the unit's actor, select the UI - Unit Kill Rank + field, and clear everything in it. This should remove "Rank" from the unit's user-interface.
Yes, but what if you wish to put a different rank? Instead of simply removing it.
There are a few fields you need to edit. Firstly, the required kills field. Forgot the name but it's the only number there anyway. Set it to 5 or whatever you want the first rank to be. There are 2 text fields now, one is a text key and the other is the text that will appear ingame. Make sure the text key is unique or you'll end up editing other units' ranks too. I use the unit's ID with a suffix on the end to ensure no interference.
After you've entered your key, just give your rank a name in the box below. Repeat this for each rank you want, just adjust the kill number and give each rank a unique text key.

Bawface, you were too quick. I figured it out already, was hoping to edit my post before I forced someone to write up a reply lawl.
Should be really simple, possible only one small thing to change, but where can I edit the rank of a unit in the data editor?
You need to modify it in the Actor of the unit, field : Unit Kill Rank (Ui part)
ah totally forgot I made this thread :P
hmm the field is blank but the unit still has the rank recruit :/
Why don't you just set the kills required to an impossible number, like 9999 or something? That might work. Just a guess.
@Fropper: Go

Looks like you can go into the text editor and locate the fields "rank" and edit them (or remove)
