I know a simple way of making these abilities but I want them to feel more dynamic. The first is a blizzard like ability from WoW. Basically you have an AoE cursor and you select where you want it to hit. I know the easy way would be create a persistent and deal damage every time the persistent goes off. But I want it to actually look like the ability is hitting the unit where the ice raining down actually hits the unit. I looked into that cow pacalyspe or whatever spell but I don't know how to change that into a concentrated area and make it rain down fast and all over.
The other is a radial blast that originates from the caster. Instead of just dealing damage around caster I want it to actually spread out. So if a unit moves away quick enough he won't get hit instead of dealing damage to the whole area at the same time.
With the first ability you just want each ice shard missile on impact to have a small Search Area effect that then applies the damage. It is all done with offsets and the Effect - Flags set to Random Offset. Create a small matix of all the possible impact locations in your area as offsets and then just get it to periodically use the Launch Missile effect x number of times per period.
The second ability is easy just have a Create Persistent effect that periodically uses a bigger and bigger Search Area radius. You can exclude units already hit from being hit multiple times by using markers or a counter buff.
