Lets recreate a World of Warcraft spell, they can be from any class and of any type, but then need to be recreated exactly, so if they put a debuff on enemies or a buff on allies.
I will let you recreate the spell, with all the minor details, and then I will post my recommendations on some spells to make them seem more like the original

Priest - Power word: Shield
Warrior - Intercept
Mage - Polymorph
Shaman - Totems (any or a few?)
Warlock - Life Drain
Rogue - Sap
Druid - Entangling Roots or even Thorns
Hunter - Snake Trap
Paladin - Divine Shield
There are Hundreds more that you could do, and I will be leaving this WDE up for more than a week so you don't have to limit yourself to just one spell

Well it's not a WoW spell, but in the spirit of Blizzard games I thought I would post this ability I made a while back. It's inspired by the Diablo II spell Firewalk.
I was wondering if anyone could help me with some finishing touches. The fire applies a 'scorched' buff that indicates the effected unit is on fire. I would like to apply an actor that shows this during the buffs duration. Any advice on how to achieve that is appreciated.
I am going to be making the Warlock, with 9 abilities, possibly a tenth. One of these abilities is Metamorphosis....
I ran into a problem to do with the portrait...
Unit begins as a Spectre, with Spectre Portrait. Spectre base starts/receives a behavior/buff "Warlock". This buff is always active, basically ensuring permanent "cover mode" ie. no weapon drawn. The Metamorphosis ability removes Warlock buff and applies Demon buff.
While demon buff is active, it swaps the model of the spectre to that of Kerrigan, tinted pure black(for now). Also would like to swap the portrait to that of the Dark Voice from the campaign while the Demon buff is active, but regardless of what I try, nothing changes, it remains the Spectre Portrait.
Here's how it's setup...

I've tried Behavior.Demon.On -> PortraitCustomize. I've tried UnitPortrait.*.Configure (instead of Customize). I've tried the term ModelName Kerrigan(this term works for other actor events) instead of IsStatus Demon 1.
I've searched the forums, i've looked at Colonist Female actor (lots of variations for the Portrait in the Actor Events) which all reference the variations of the Civilian Female model... I'm running out of ideas here. I've also looked at the Dark Templar... it has 2 variations but basically uses the same setup as the Civilian/Colonist Female.
Why is it so damn hard to swap/color a portrait? If they allow ModelSwap, why not have a simple PortraitSwap?? GRRR.
EDIT: Ok so I was having a slight issue with scale adjustments so I added a few more warlocks to test the scale out in game, and it seems every SECOND spectre gets a portrait swap... Any insight on how to make this 100% instead of 50? I already tried the term PassChance 100.
EDIT 2: Regardless of the order, it's always first click = Spectre Portrait, second click = Dark Voice.
Did a test...

click 2 on unit 2, dark voice portrait
click 3 on unit 3, spectre portrait
click 4 on unit 1, dark voice portrait
Seems this portrait isn't tied to the unit itself, but to every second selection of unit type... WTF?
Sure, of course it would be easier if it was a morph... and that's the point. No one has done much work with Actor Events and Portraits, you know? I kinda want to figure that crap out :P
Like I said, I am working on Warlock/Spells, since Warlock was by far my fave class to play back in Classic WoW.
Classic WoW Spell List
Summon Voidwalker (Summons a voidwalker, duh... 10 second channeled cast)
Sacrifice (Don't remember what this one was called and can't seem to find it online anywhere, but you could instantly sacrifice your current summoned demon-pet to get a bonus, and in the case of the Voidwalker, you get a protective bubble-shield that absorbs all damage, instant cast)
Fel Domination (Next summoned demon-pet summonable at near instant speed at 10% mana cost, 2 minute cooldown)
Hellfire (channeled spell that deals X damage per second to caster and all surrounding enemies in the area of effect, 15 second duration, channeled)
BC/WotLK/Cataclysm Spell List
Metamorphosis (allows the Warlock to transform into a Demon for 30 seconds(1 minute in my map), increases armor by 600% and I'll see about increasing all damage by 20%, 3minute cooldown)
Demon-Only Spell List (No Mana costs)
Challenging Howl (Taunt all surrounding enemies into attacking you, instant, 15 second cooldown)
Demon Charge (Charge into an enemy, stunning it for 3 seconds, instant, 45 second cooldown)
Immolation Aura (Ignite the area around the caster, causing damage to enemies every second, instant, 15 second duration, 30 second cooldown)
the Aura version of Hellfire
Shadow Cleave (Inflicts damage to target and 3 nearby allies in a forward arc, 6 second cooldown)
Here's the combo I used to do when power-leveling...
Have my Voidwalker already summoned, send him in to get some aggro.
Run in, Sacrifice the Voidwalker, then cast Fel Domination and then Hellfire in rapid succession...
The "Sacrificed" Voidwalker's bubble-shield absorbs all damage from the entire mob + hellfire, you are basically immune.
When the Shield dies out, instant summon the Voidwalker, re-sacrifice and then Hellfire once again.
I just made a totem using pylon as the totem. lasts for 10seconds, every 1 sec it heals everything around it for 1hp. i couldn't work out validator i had included validator of exclude enemy,neutral,ally to the modify unit effect but that didn't work. i didn't do casting animation for spell caster for ability. i didn't do any shiny effects that appear around the area it heals.
i did it within my currently in progress map sooo if you want me to upload for anyone you can just dl my map from the workplace :) anything for the spell just type in healing ward and should give ya the info for making it. though it was a simple one :S

Create a new Actor of Type Model Attachment(The non Static one)

->Play Animation <Ect> Play Forever
-Behavior.Scorched.End
->Destroy
Or something of that nature, Then make sure you choose a proper fire model, and the <Ect> the proper animation for fire.
