I thought that since there is a WTE (Weekly Terrain Exercise) that perhaps a WCE (Weekly Cinematic Exercise) would be a cool idea. It would be really similar to the WTE in that the theme would be stated and then several people go about and make cinematics around that theme. The theme would generally just be actions of some kind that might include you doing some simple terrain for your scene to look good. I just thought this would be a cool thing to do to help users learn to use the cinematic editor better as it really is a powerful tool.
I thought about this a while ago too, but I don't know if a week would be enough. I would love to try this though, just need a simple topic for the first one.
Yea maybe 2 weeks. First week could be assassination, or fighting, or a race or pretty much a small version of everything. I'd totally host this if we can get more support.
Might be fun, I might suggest including a 'landscape' for it to occur in sometimes. One might spend even more time on making a terrain for it then making the cutscene otherwise.
Example1: A map with a small tree on an island. This weeks WCE, make this island interesting.
Example2: A small bar. Make a bad joke about people walking into a bar using cinematics.
I would suggest at least some sort of cinematic competition, especially with an influx of beta keys to give away that is going to happen soon. (Not necessarily weekly)

Mmmh.... beta key. That would be up to the mods to decide. They said they already had something planned for when they receive them.
Posted a link to this thread on the mod forums, will add the new thread to the Event Box. Beta keys for a (bi)weekly exercise is unlikely. We haven't come to a definite conclusion, but we're probably gonna start a large set of contests once we get the beta keys. Also, just to point this out, we have no idea whatsoever when or how many keys we will be getting.

Yea I was thinking about something like that... Could occasionally tie into WTEs or such so this might be something to start.
Sounds cool. I would participate.

I took the oppertunity to create one for the first week, hope the topic is simple yet challeging. =)

Well the purpose of this isn't for the beta keys it's for the practice we all need but if this could become a biweekly event that would be awesome.
Of course beta keys are always nice.
