i'm not sure why you quoted me in particular, but firstly i already have it and secondly zbrush is much better for that task!
and where the fuck did u put 7k polys in that shoe? Oo u could cut sooo much out of it without neccessarily loosing too much detail...
okay, as far as i see this is developing into a highpoly contest? i mean, wasnt the initial idea to make models for game use purposes? or are u going to make a lowpoly version afterwards?
sorry lol i just used the reply button on a random post. and just because he has a high poly count does not mean he will win =) its the best looking. if someone could have a low poly count and are amazing artists and do texturing really well.

It's true, I suck at texturing.
7k polygons come out of me not trying to optimize it. If it was doing a legit game model, it would be much more optimized.
naw i said i may use the models in the map, but the contest is for best looking model, even high polly count ,models can be used. I was given Lightning model directly from the game file and played around with it in game (no animation of course) and it works fine. but yes best looking models may be put into the map. but i think a few models from this contest may make it to the line-up.
I think this contest is a great idea and I hope more people do it. I see people complaining that he's basically offering up cash for models... Have you guys ever been to a modding site? They are full of people asking for models or textures or this and that and 99% of the time they offer absolutely nothing in return for these tasks that can sometimes be hugely time consuming.
This guy is offering up over 400 dollars in prizes for models for a mod he intends on distributing for free. That's dedication to a mod. Quit complaining and let the people with skills and time benefit from something they enjoy doing.
As it stands, it's a 120kb .m3 file. The vert count is high due to hair planes and collar flaps. I might be able to optimize this but it depends on how animation and rigging will work for exporting.
Static models don't generally don't take up a lot of space though. It's animation that takes up a chunk of the .m3 file. I'd figure the .m3 getting up to 700k with basic animations included. This model is not rigged or animated.
I'm using .tga's for the texture maps, and they're about 750k each. Together, it's about 1.7mb for a static model + 2 textures.
There's a vanille model out there too. Do I still get something if I turn them into .m3 for you? :P

i am just thinking of the possibility that the pleb will vote glamour, not usefullness...

it is after all a contest for best looking the contest is about glamor.
i thought its about playable game characters... not cinematic models!

What are the rules on using texture brushes to expedite the texturing process?
@TheSecretArts: Go
I am not really sure what you mean? However, as long as the unit is textured i don't care how you do it.
They are special brushes that create a specific texture that can be used to make speedy textures for things like clothes, metal, etc.

oh yeah go for it =)
Here's my submission

Hey good stuff!
@Triceron: Go That's a spot on model of Snow! :D
May I ask how big is the file size of your Snow model?
Please PM me the map with the model or the model file.
nice work =)

Does SC2 support bump maps?
Also, nice model, they are a few issues, but that is just because I'm anal about details : /
Yes.
