I've never really gotten into making models before this but this is what I'm currently working on, and hopefully, finishing. There is still alot to do obviously like add the legs, texture and animate but I just wanted to at least show the progress I've made and see if anyone has suggestions regarding the machine's geometry. Also I realize there needs to be two more frontal cannons :)
I'd advice you to watch the polycount. For example, I see that you use spheres. These can have less polygons. I can't comment much on the overall shape in this early state.

Thanks, yeah I know the poly count is pretty gruesome with those darn spheres :P
But I did remove some of the unnecessary edges, and I used the optimize modifier which helped a bit. BTW I love your snowspeeder dude.
I'm using 3ds max right now. Right now the legs are done and I'm starting to work on the texture which is one of my weak points but hopefully it'll come through.

What modeller do you use?

Thanks.
About the textures, I think it's best to first finish the model
The actual model is done, if you're talking about the animations and bones and tedious stuff like that then it's not done :P
I can help you with that part (not with texturing though). In any case, why won't you show the current state of the model?
Ignore the color variation, it helps me differentiate parts easier.

You can't release it like that. Drawing 2d shapes and extruding them is only the beginning, not the end.
Yeah I'm pretty much stretching my knowledge right now to be honest :P
