Hello guys, i have problem to convert mdx models on m3 for starcraft :/ i can't import in 3ds max, so i search some help or someone who can convert me some models
Heuu i have download the models i don't know if they are old... i can show you if you want =) and no i can't take them on Wow model wiewer (Chen Stormstout crah editor for example)
What I just to do is use the WoW model viewer, save the m2 model and the skin file
Use the import M2 into max and in the second tab select the animations you want.
Don't select them all since Max will crash
Just the ones you need.
Ihave the same problem with other model you know Garosh, Thrall, All serpent and gods Pandaren, Chen, Tyrael pet and more....
All my driver are avaible, I search on the net the problem i try all the solution i found, no one work :'(. Its for this i search he model on mdx for try to convert them but dindn't work to :'(
Well, you can download the 3ds max 2011 version for free on the offical website of 3ds max... you just have to search for 3ds max education and you should get a download for students.

Student Version download
Or atleast you definetly get a programm key so it isnt illegal to download a cracked version...
Just enter anything at school and school url
I have the same problem when I import the m2 model, it crashes when I go from the mesh tab to the animation tab BUT... I fixed the script and added some code that it does not crash anymore..
The only thing is that the animations that crash are not in the list (of course) but I can live with that and the animation I required are still there.
After fixing up the normal, diffuse, alpha and specular map I ended up with this:
1. Chen with texture, no team color
2. Animated Chen (only stand for now)
3. Animated Chen with team color.
I need to add the rest of the animations, then I'll put him here to download

Which mdx model are you trying to convert, can't you use a m2 model (World Of Warcraft) in stead of a Warcraft 3 model?
WC3 models are way to low poly for a game like SC2, even the older WoW models can grow in polys to be able to use in SC2.

I have to disagree on this, they are perfectly find so long as you give them a slight touch up and don't enlarge them to huge sizes.
Personally I'm of the opinion that it depends how many models you are importing and or will be trying to make the game engine render at any one time.
If you are going for 100+ with 100+ units being used being used at any one time then you would be better off not using WoW models due to the sizes and the frame rate.
If you are going for 50 and 10 being used then WoW models all the way.
WC3 models are 400 to 800 polys max, SC2 models are 1200 to 8000 polys, older WoW models are 1500 to 3500 polys and the newer are up to 9000 polys, so where is the issue here?
SC2 supports up to 1.2 Milj Polys, so i think it will be just fine
