World of Starcraft by Creation
In the past, we've seen several "World of Starcraft" projects by various different users (SCMapper's came first and then came Slaydon's).... However, they have all abandoned their projects as they have likely just burnt out due to the fact that they have tried to tackle it alone. Not this time! Creation is going to work with a team of users to create an SC2 in-game MMO (he's recruiting right now). Recently they've been perfecting the character selection screen, as seen in the YouTube clip below... Hopefully these guys can do what it takes to complete a working project of this type of game and succeed where previous users have failed. *crosses fingers*
Maps are to small for an rpg anyway. :p
I actually gave up because I realized there was no way to stop inevitable tampering of bank files, a pseudo-mmo like "World of Starcraft" would be completely dependent on the integrity of that stored data, otherwise it wouldn't be played for very long. In fact that glaring issue with banks coupled with the latency issues of keyEvents drove me away from developing for SC2 entirely. (Popularity System was the nail in the coffin :O)
its actually a pretty big deal to create these engines at the start of the map.
These projects are failing because everyone wastes their time with character selection when they should be making proofs-of-concept with the bare essentials for gameplay. You're a lot less likely to lose faith in a project when you can play it and know that it's fun.
class = warrior, takes 5 seconds, let's see some action already!
