I actually enjoyed the RTS-feel more than having a turn based, slow, approach (and yes, I own and used to play the original, HOMM 3).
The only thing I think you should add is make days/weeks more clear to the player.
Another thing I miss is glancing at my opponents' actions =P Like when I played HOMM 3 with friends, sharing the computer, you of course saw everything your opponent did... Would be interesting to see all players in this mod, as it feels like a singleplayer game at times, only seeing other players for a brief period - and then someone is dead =p
Yo all.... I was so inspired by all the awesome maps we played this EU Map Night that I just had to get my own little project publicly published.
It's a 1-4 player co-op campaign, very similar to Left 4 Dead - except you control your character from above, using the mouse to fire away missiles and move around.
It would be awesome to get some feedback and testing for it, so if you want to try it out, don't hesitate to write your thoughts here or at the project page: http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/secret-escape/
Currently published @ EU, search for "The Secret Escape". I hope you enjoy.
+ Impressive terrain
+ Originality
+ Scary - I played this 2:40 am and nearly shat myself at just the scary sounds and random appearences =P
+ Custom sounds
+ Object info when pressing E (however, using a mouseoever function would be so much sweeter)
- The riddles themselves were not too complicated - however, finding the object was. I was frantically pressing E every tree and bush I could see, and yet I didn't "figure it out" until I saw your WC3 movie
- Too many 'scenes' or camera angles - especially in the crowded house
- Controls are horrifficly annoying - a simple mouse control would be so much better. Mouseover info on objects for interaction would be sweet
- The stairs inside the house are seriously bugged - took me like 5 trips back and forth to realize I had to use "E" to climb it - only to find myself stuck at the top if i accidently pressed W
- When I came out of the door leading back to the "key finding spot" and couldn't get back in - I got bored and quit
Overall: a very promising map that has a a bit too many moments of irritation to suit me personally, but that's what you've got feedback for! Good luck with continuing on the map, and I hope to see a more polished version hit B.net in the future :)
Wow, awesome tutorial. It opened my eyes not only for a great way of implementing a minimap, but also for the possibilities using libraries. Reminds me of "Classes" in Python!
I should really have worked more on the actual cow waves if I had had more time before the contest, but alas... Anyways, I at least thought my missile & UI-system worked good (which was the most time consuming), so I might make a revamp based on it... when exams are over :<

Hey everyone! I just wanted to add my entry: The Secret Cow Map, to this list :)
Maybe you've already played it, or seen the video in the news. If not - here's a video which pretty much sums it up. I hope you like it!
