The way they work is by changing the MapInfo file (inside the map mpq) which holds the lobby informations (default AI in this case). So it's not really hard to do.
However if you are about to change the team information, it's going to be harder as it does not belong to the map file but you have to change the Starcraft memory.
While here on mapster we encourage you to do 3rd party apps that interact with the game in order to provide better mapping tools, the launchers are primarily used by people to play without buying the game. Therefore this is under high surveillance by Blizzard and we don't want to have problems because of that :)
You really want to make a better post if you want people to join your tournament. Also, I would really discourage having teams of more than 2 people. If you'd like some Curse Premium as rewards just send me a PM, we will arrange the details :)
Making a good map takes a lot of time and so far it has always been for fun. However it would be really awesome to get some pocket money (or more) out of this amount of work. That's why I'm creating a thread to find ways to monetize the maps.

A way to get some money is to launch a website for your map and put Google Adsense on it. If it's quite successful you can win something like 100 dollars per month. But not only you are going to spend time working on the map, you will also spend a lot of time on the website.
Donations
On sc2mapster you can attach your paypal account to the project page and people will be able to give you some money if they liked the map. I didn't see much map makers doing it and I don't know if that's working.
Mapster revenue share
Curse.com is about the same as sc2mapster but for WoW Addons. Since the release of the Curse Premium we share a part of our revenues (20% if I recall correctly) with the addons makers. The top addons give about a thousand dollars per month to their authors.
I am thinking about doing the same thing for sc2mapster but there are problems about it. The main one is: "How to have a non-biased way to tell what maps should be given more than the others". Since people don't download the maps from sc2mapster to play them, the download count is not a viable way to do it.
Also, mapster is so far a lot smaller than Curse, so the revenues would be smaller :(

If you have ideas about how to make money from maps, I'd be really glad to hear them!
In Warcraft 3 it was useful to learn Jass because there were things that weren't possible without it. However there's nothing more you can do in Galaxy than using the trigger editor. And, you will have a hard time doing things in Galaxy as it's not supported by default so you have to use tricky things to use it.
Blizzard is planning to give more focus on Galaxy in the next content patch, so it may be worth waiting.
Anyway if you want to learn Galaxy here are some links
Language Overview: Small article but contains all the structures of Galaxy (don't read everything about pointers, they have been removed since the beta).
Available functions: You can get all the available functions on the Wiki. Click on any function and you will have the galaxy version. Eg: point libNtve_gf_PointFromXYZ(fixed x, fixed y, fixed y2)
You can view what's your current triggers convert to galaxy by using the View Script option. Note: it will be kinda ugly since it's automatically generated.
Finally, you can read C tutorials as Galaxy is really close to C.

There's the Nexus Wars tournament the same day, possible to make it one day before/after?

Well, remove 2 if you want to use normal units + campaign ones :)

It's probably a lot more buggy and ugly as it's an internal tool. They don't have to get it as polished as the Galaxy Editor.

Double enter makes a new paragraph. If you don't want to make a new paragraph you probably want to use a bullet list :)

If you keep pressing a key, will the unit keep moving with this system?

Could you make a small youtube video of your map? I'd be really glad to news it so people can play your map!

Could you explain how you did it?
Also, seriously remove the first 40 seconds of the video, they are useless!
