Yeah, and a Diplomacy map isn't exactly easy to make. I think if you're trying to egg someone into making a good one for $50 you may have the wrong sort of expectations.
As for the prize, I'd say switch it for five movie tickets or something. Thats got more value than cash to a lot of people like myself :)
I suspect if you have unchanged units associated with default units with core dependency that they will be affected by any patch changes. But since most units we use are altered in some way I'm guessing the damage will be minimal.
I heard Blizzard is going to do something about cross-realms, is this true?
Yes. From Bashiok in late August on the SC2 forums:

Right now we have a plan to implement an in-game region selection option, and our SEA/ANZ region will be getting NA access soon. So I think it'll be interesting to see how that pans out, and into the future.
Actually I published a second map called "Team Melee Ladder" which is the same map but all the resources have been set back to 1,500. So you can play normal or with additional resources depending on your preference.
EDIT: Also I couldn't post it on TL even if I wanted to, apparently requires a three day old account before you can do anything.
Thanks a bunch for the response progammer. It is a melee map, but it's technically a custom game since it uses dialogs and a custom race to get the resource sharing to function. I also bumped the resources on the map to 20,000 so it would be more casual-friendly than a typical ladder map.
Do you think the communities you listed would still be interested knowing that?
Recently I finished up work on one of my first mapping projects. I dunno if the page can be seen by anyone, but its awaiting approval at the following URL:
http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/ash-team-melee/
This is a complete remake of the original Team Melee setting from Starcraft. It allows you to mix and match your races like the original game mode as well as have both players control a single team seamlessly as though it were a single player. It uses custom dialogs to display a resource pool that both players can view and spend together.
However, since completing work on the map I'm sort of at a loss for how to get people to even play it. I haven't got the time necessary to bump my own map like some people I've read are doing right after a public popularity reset. I'm certain there's a desire for a map like this, but no idea how to get people to even know it exists.
Any tips from folks who know how to get people to play a map in the current popularity system?
EDIT: Also, how would someone even play it if they wanted to? I uploaded the map a week ago initially and "team melee" does not bring my map up in search results.
So does anyone know if its possible to display Terrazine and Custom as resources in the upper right corner without using a custom race so we can actually publish?
Whenever I attempt to publish my completed map I receive error "VALIDATION_WORKING_SET_INSTANCE_FAIL". I've tried completely removing the variance settings and the issue persists. Sometimes publishing gets to 100% and fails, other times it won't even get beyond the header.
Can anyone offer assistance? I've seen another thread dedicated to this error but none of the suggested offered have resolved the issue for me.
Which mapper that has a bit of experience would use a blizzard melee map as base? And why?
I don't think I said anything about people with experience.
People edit Blizzard maps as a base for a lot of reasons- specifically when they make games that are just variations of standard melee games such as Phantom BGH. Just because you don't personally doesn't mean plenty of people don't.
But we couldn't rip off Starcraft. Any maps we make have to be run by Blizzard's SC2 engine. We couldn't take the editor, recode it a bit, and then repackage and sell it because the tool itself is hard coded. Hacking of that coding would not be legal. See the difference?
Not really. I think you're nitpicking for some reason. People make their own maps using Blizzard maps as a base all the time.
Not dubious. I wouldn't let you take my map, add some new triggers and publish it on your own, either.
Uh its a Blizzard map. Following that mindset should they have even made the Galaxy Editor at all? Since we could potentially rip off Starcraft II you know.

There's a similar map thats popular a few pages down right now with a similar name. Its a pretty bad map though.

How are you expecting people to check?

Which works fine for the default races, but if you add a new selectable race then you can no longer publish.

Argh, just saw the sticky. Sorry for the spam.
