well i pm'ed rodrigo about the publishing thing... now what? shall we wait for taco to return with an elaborate statement? will the poll be accepted and the project launch? CAN OUR HEROES STOP THE EVIL BAD PERSON? and more importantly, what's the capital of slovakia... pretty sure it's bratislava?

all i can guarantee you is that if you play my zombies map, none of your questions will be answered and you'll get a headache

since my "political support" of this project led to such a huge fustercluck earlier, i'm thinking about helping in a more... practical way

i'm gonna be a publisher for NA, but first i'm gonna ask rodrigo about anything i need to know beforehand, and, of course, look up the trigger

wanted to extend my apologies to you colors about all the crap i've given ya about your map... I just finished my second week of school, and obviously because i'm on this website, school is hell for me

whatever wins the vote this time, i'll argue for

    i'm officially neutral

like i said before (although it might have been deleted) i'm just going with whatever the polls decide this time... if it's bp, i'm happy as long as everyone decides. I would recommend that everyone doesn't just vote for the only maps they know, but rather they check the pages for each map.

xsun, sandtrout, i just wanted to say i'm sorry about earlier... i really stirred things up and made one nasty margarita

the first map does have to be good, and i will simply state my arguments against battle planets and where i believe it fails to meet this requirement. I find that the game is too short, and that it does not contain enough variability in its gameplay to be played lots of times over. It is fun, but it can't compare to some of the other maps out there... I will admit that it kicks both of my maps in the rear, but have you ever played banana cheaters, catalyst, something more complicated? The fact that desert strike used to be the most popular NA map shows me that a map requires some level of realism or combat. Planets orbiting around and shooting lasers is rather, childish. I'll wrap it up with the fact that it has no storyline either. Is it well made? Yes! Was much time spent on it? YES! Were the custom models impressive? YES YES YES... but the concept fails to feed the gamer's interest.

fine WE ALL WANT OTHER MAPS THAN BATTLE PLANETS AND I FINALLY REALIZE IT

i hate that map... and I HAVE played it and it's a bad choice

the simple point is that everyone who voted for it doesn't know what they're talking about and will be destroying the project with their votes

EDIT: i personally think that we need a better voting system, because battle planets shouldn't have turned up as #1 on the first poll, but i have no clue as to what we could do besides lynch our voters until they say the right thing. This isn't about denying the voters, but the simple truth is that battle planets CANNOT succeed.

sure it's fun and games until two planets rub past each other... then its WAAAAAY outta da locker galaxy for me!

REVOTE? YES!!!! this is our chance to not screw ourselves!!! after being weaned to the idea, i agree with taco and we need to at LEAST get a map that's good... i've been holding this back for the sake of sounding nice, but battle planets IS NOT THAT GREAT... in fact i hate it...

it has simply too many balls (cough) spheres (cough) testicles (cough cough cough cough COUGH... [roll over and die of TB])

nice comment! THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING!!!!

you're point is good, but the majority of people working on this are thinking only of promoting maps that didn't get deserved respect. maybe you're right, but it's just a little painful the think that the point is to "prove ourselves" rather than the former idea. I think though, that battle planets is a good map regardless, and a lot of people already know about it (it got a lot of advertising)

another thing is that the new maps are supposed to inherit popularity from the previous map of the week, which should help it build more and more popularity with time

4 maps a month isn't great, but the maps are (hopefully, depending on the votes) good, and deserve the extra popularity they'll get

i would be happy if you agreed that promoting good unpopular maps is a definite purpose for this project, not just making the sc2mapster community better known and promoting the creation of new maps that nobody will play either. frankly, this community is nearly useless now because of the popularity system, and half of the advertised maps don't get attention at all. so what i'm saying is this: even if we boost the mapping community to be more productive, the popularity system is still a piece of shit. this project is supposed to help mappers get around that. THAT is what they need to get well known and more confident

i agree that the mapping community should get some strength, but only after the main problem it's dealing with is resolved

as for the unpopular maps that we'll be helping, a few seeds can grow a forest

and finally something personal to say: please don't be offended by my arguments, most people (less intelligent than the people on this community) just start cursing and trolling like crazy after a few of my posts. I respect your opinion, and it might be better than mine. I'm just talking about the moral aspects of this project

i completely agree, and i think rodrigo does too. tacomanstan, i know you're not trolling and i understand what you're getting at, but we can't just be Machiavellian about this. we're not doing this the easy way, we're doing this the right way

my maps aren't popular and i don't give a damn... i care about this project because hundreds, if not thousands more are in worse condition than mine... and they may be better maps than my maps, battle planets, and any map on the front page. problem is that nobody would know or care what's going on either way. that's what needs to be fixed.

even for a mid-grade map, i know it can take about 3 months to make on average, and 8 months for more ambitious maps. when someone puts enough time, focus, and effort into something like this, it's as important as a work of art. No, it is a work of art and it should not die before the eyes of a listless, dissonant system.
