    http://forums.sc2mapster.com/development/terrain/21023-ruined-temple-bridges-no-longer-ruined/#p5

Two additional methods for making such a bridge. One is to use that terrain object bridge he made, or one is to use a technique I really like which involves hiding terrain cells. The latter works well when you are using the height brush, and when the height difference between the bridge and the water under it isn't great.

Edit: Looks like I was late to the game :D

Still, another option for you to try!

posted a message on Thinking about getting WoW....

Don't bother, especially if you just have the OG WoW. Sure, the first one was the best, but good luck ever getting a group of people to not advance beyond level 60, and just stay and attempt the 40 mans. Won't happen. Besides, WoW is really just a time dump. I quit the year I came to college; best choice of my life.

You're better off buying several long islands with the 15 bones.

posted a message on Question with regards to cliff faces and terrain cells

Hello folks. In making bridges, I typically use the hide terrain cell option as to make a nice looking bridge. One down side of this that you have to paint in pathing. However, in a project I am working on, height levels are a very important function of pathing. For this question, for the purpose of clarity, I am going to refer to height levels by 1 (lowest, can't be pathed), 2 (default), 3 and 4 (being the highest possible). The water must be at 1, and the ground must be at 2. The bridges he wants me to make must be at 2 with water at 1 surrounding them. Normally, I could still use the hide terrain cell option here if the bridges were fairly wide, however these bridges are meant to be small, about 1 or 2 cliff cells across. Therefore, hiding the terrain cells on top, and the cliff faces, are impossible to my knowledge.

Is there a way to hide the cliff faces and top of the terrain cells that I do not know about? I can work around all of this, however if I don't have too, I would rather not.

    Thanks.

It is not the doodads that really worry me here, for this project, but fitting middle earch into a tiny map, even if it is 256x256, and still having meaningful detail. Prehaps limit yourself to one region?

I went for "as char as possible". I listened to the pod cast, and heard you mention terrain cell bridges, so I thought I'd make one that is volcanic themed. The tile set is char, most of the doodads are char, the light is the default char, really the Archon and the Bridge are the only "non-char" things here!

Consider the human coordination required to pull off the explosion, the research into the explosion, and the cover up. It is a whole freaking lot. Do you really think the United States Government can coordinate something that complex? In fact, work in the government for just a summer, (I interned at the New York Fed for 2 years), and then ask yourself if the government could pull this off.

I'll give you a hint: no. Hell, our government's financial regulatory system, and our financial system is the most heavily regulated sector in our economy, could not even pick up on Enron, The 2008 Financial Crisis, or Madolff, despite the size and power of the Federal Reserve, SEC, Comptroller, and ect. So do you think they could really spend several years investigating this massive undertaking: destroying the WTC while at the same time covering it up? Sorry, no. Moreover, despite the fact that our form of government has fallen so far from the Federalist Republic it was conceived to be, the fact that politicians rely on our votes would put them into a major prisoner's dilemma with the American public.

Really, the biggest problem with any conspiracy theory of this magnitude is that it relies on the premise that there can be a central planner with near omniscience, perfect foresight, and unlimited resources. Sorry, but that has never been the case, and certainly if you look at all the failed policies in America, such as the War on Poverty, the War on Drugs, the housing initiative (which spawned Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac), and every stimulus package (and for that matter, every instance of counter cyclical monetary policy), you will learn that the government sucks at achieving its plans. Sorry, the incentive structure to coordinate for any policy, from infrastructure improvement to the destruction and cover up of buildings, simply isn't there. Certainly there is crime and conspiracy in government, but at the disconnect individual level. You gather a bunch of backstabbers in the same room, and they will backstab each other before they start to backstab themselves. Ironically, wickedness is wickedness' best check.

Moreover, what the hell would the motivation have been to do any of this at all?

    • Simple Gifts taken from the Ballet Appalachian Spring.
    • Reverie, by Claude Debussy. I am a huge fan of him, and impressionism in general.
    • Another Debussy, this one describes the movement of clouds in the sky. As I listen to it, my belief is that he had grey, and later, stormy clouds in mind.

posted a message on Experienced Terrain Worker looking to Exchange Terraining for Data Editing

I have several Cortex Roleplay Maps published, and several more on the way. All of these terrains are fairly high quality. Posted below is an early picture of a recent terrain, Cortex Roleplay - Antediluvian Vale 2, which should see publication this week. Additional screen shots available upon PM request. Though I currently have several projects, I have alot of free time. As a terrainer I promise to:

Give you my best effort, work, and dedication. Use every resource I can to present your map in a lively manner. Get timely responses, and a timely product. You will not have to wait for 2 months for the terrain to be both complete and of superb quality.

I do have several conditions, however, before I take any 'job': 1) The game must be in fairly late stages of production. I do not want to make a terrain, and then see it not published. 2) I must be credited for my work. 3) I must be given a clear idea of what the author wants for the terrain. 4) The game must be of at least solid quality. I take pride in my terrains, and I want to terrain for someone who likewise takes pride in their work.

For a Data Editor I need: Someone who loves data editing, and is very knowledgeable of each and every field. Someone who knows how to make complicated effects, attacks, abilities, and units Someone who can teach, has patience, and whom with I can establish a reliable line of communication.

What you would be doing: Building a hero's mod for several Cortex Roleplay Maps alongside another data editor. You will be creating these heros, attaching weapons to their models, which shall be provides, and then debugging. This type of mod will be a great asset to the community as a whole, and aside from getting one or more terrains in exchange for your work, you will be properly credited on everyone of my cortex roleplay maps.

Contact me by PM, good luck; have fun!

    Highlights of my work

posted a message on whats the most liked terrain?

I suppose I try to be an impressionist as far as terraining goes. I like to suggest a story, or better yet, a backstory, but I do not like to say what that backstory is. Typically I prefer to use a few ruins, and try to suggest that something happened, but allow players room to interpret what happened.
